Biometric Passport

Can I ask and I apologise if this is a silly question but I must be sure. Does a biometric passport confirm your identity regardless if there any other issues with a passport such as a signature issue? Read in the internet that there are or at least were uk passport signature passports and uk passport biometric passports and fir the biometric it said it eliminates the ned fir signature verification due to the inbuilt chip that can confirm your identity? Many thanks

What's the context you're thinking of, i.e. who in particular is needing to confirm your identity via a passport?
The biometric ones are machine-readable at international border checks that have the relevant technology, but that's not available in other environments.0 -
A biometric passport (which is all UK passports issued since 2010) contain the same "data" as contained in the passport, including the photograph, but in machine-readable form on a chip. Doesn't hold the signature obviously since this is added after issue.
Not too sure what you mean by "signature verification", I guess that someone wishing to verify that you are the actual passport holder might ask for a signature and match it to that in the passport (be it biometric or otherwise) but I've not heard of it happening.0 -
I wonder why the passports have reverted to adding the signature after they have been issued. Previously they had a scanned copy of your signature included on the page protected by the lamination.0

I don't know but I notice that my renewed driving licence that arrived this week has my signature of (I guess) ten years ago printed on it and it is noticeably different from my signature now.OliverLacon said:I wonder why the passports have reverted to adding the signature after they have been issued. Is this related to your other thread about signature issues?
