Dear Sir/Madam,
Re: Claim Reference: [Insert Claim Number]
Defendant: [Your Full Name]I am writing in relation to the above claim, for which I submitted a defence on 5th March 2025.
Unfortunately, due to a recent house move and a known issue with mail regularly being misdelivered to a similar address (my former address was "[123A Example Street]" and post was often sent to "[123 Example Street]"), I did not receive either the Directions Questionnaire (dated 10 April) or the accompanying correspondence until just now. These were recovered from the office of an estate agent located beneath my former flat — well after I had moved and updated my address with DVLA.
As a result, I was entirely unaware that the claim had progressed further, and only became aware of the issue today after collecting the delayed post. I understand from my MCOL login that my defence has now been struck out on 25 June 2025, and I may now be at risk of a default judgment, through no fault of my own.
Please find attached my completed N180 Directions Questionnaire, which I am submitting immediately in an attempt to comply as best I can despite the unfortunate delay.
📌 Data Rectification Notice (Article 16 & 17 – UK GDPR)
In addition, I am formally requesting that my personal data be updated and rectified across your records. Please update my contact details to reflect the correct address below, and erase the outdated address previously used:
-
Previous address (to be removed): [Insert old address]
-
Correct current address: [Insert new full address]
Please confirm in writing that this address has now been updated in your systems and shared with all relevant third parties (including your solicitors and the County Court).
I sincerely hope that this can be taken into consideration. I had no intention of ignoring court deadlines and have acted promptly and in good faith upon becoming aware of the issue.
Please confirm receipt of this email and let me know if any further steps are required on my part.
Yours faithfully,
[Your Full Name]

When doing a Data Rectification Notice, the word to be used for old data is ERASED - it has a specific meaning where data is concerned.
You need to ask yourself why you are getting so many PCNs; are you not reading t&cs or not paying or are you overstaying? You need to be in defensive mode when entering car parks. OR as @Coupon-mad writes often, park on the street (legally).2 -
Wait: you moved house during the middle of an ongoing court claim and you didn't either: (a) set up mail redirection nor (b) go back to the old address to pick up post weekly (clearly important under the circumstances) AND didn't tell the CNBC your new address?
I am sorry to tell you this ... but as we are in July, this is too little too late. That MCOL history shows us that you have lost by default.
Your defence was struck out last week.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
