So in July 2023 I ordered off Amazon Duronic Auto feed Paper shredder £99!

As had loads of confidential date to shred e.g bills Statements etc

so last weekend I decided to declutter my flat & Shred the rest got a bit more left! It got to the last few pages of the lot I put in auto feed section & it then decided to put about 10 pages through the auto feed section (been doing it allot recently well after a few months I bought it)

It said over loaded but eventually after reversing it a few times it started to shred the paper then finally got jammed managed to get some of it out!

Now makes a loud noise & blades will move a bit then stop!

I always empty the bin before doing it again! Did try taking it apart & get rest of paper out still not working!

Since I bought it after a few months it keeps saying overloaded feeds more paper than it can chew takes ages or feed the paper!

Should I just chuck it away & get new one?

I am looking for a good value auto feed shredder that will last more 2 than years and has a tray for 80+ pieces of paper that can Automatically feed them through 1 at a time without the need to be next to it!

Have a cheaper version, ultimately you need to get the paper out without loosing a bit of a finger to the teeth. I've always managed to clear mine with a bit of switching it from forward and reverse and back and, whilst unplugged, using something like a pencil to to free-up the clog. Once unclogged it then run fine again.

Yeah you've overloaded it and you've probably got a wodge of paper in the blades, more than its designed to cope with.  Most shredders won't take more than 5 sheets without complaining about it or getting stuck.

Sometimes a spot of forwards and backwards will eventually clear it, but if not you'll have to unpick what you can from the bottom of where the shredded paper comes out (maybe from the top as well) and then do some more forward/reverse to unclog it.

Not quite sure why you spent £99 on a shredder when similar ones on Amazon are a fifth of that price (all they do is grind up a bit of paper at the end of the day) but... your choice.

I tried to forward & reverse it… but it then makes a loud noise stops working & feels like the motors will go bang! I don’t wanna hurt my self trying to fix it!

I just want a good quality auto feed paper shredder that will last

    any ideas?

They all last if you don't shove more paper in than they're designed to take ;)
I've had mine best part of 15 years and it was only about £13 when I bought it back in 2009.
Yes I clogged it up as well but always managed to unstick it.

Well the auto feed tray takes about 100 pages!

I always put in about 70-80 pages maybe 100 on the odd occasion which is meant to feed the pages through 1 at a time but sadly it kept feeding through more than it should which kept overloading the shredder or takes ages to move the paper without my help

started doing this after a few months with light usage

Did you ever put sharping/lubricant sheets through it?

Mine is a heavy duty office one that was eight quid from the charity shop.
If you are going to oil it make sure you use the right things because I used vegetable oil after being misled by Google and completely knackered my last one.
As above, put through much two at once and you’re going to break even the most expensive one.
If you got that much to shred and you’ve got outside space , if it’s probably going be cheaper and easier to buy a garden incinerator and burn the lot.

All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

    1. Go to your local library and ask them to put you on line to Which?.
    Then look up:
    https://www.which.co.uk/reviews/shredders/article/how-to-buy-the-best-shredder-abuXP1p7l3a9
If you attempt to do it at home, unless you have a Which? subscription, important information will be blanked out.

    2. I think it very unlikely that you will get one that take 50 sheets at once.

    3. If you put it on auto feed and the mechanism goes wrong, feeding it more sheets than it can handle, as you have found it gets jammed up.

    4. At the end of the day it is just a mechanical devise, if you use it the way you describe, then the works need to be lubricated to keep it working smoothly. I understand they sell special sheets for this very purpose.

    5. If you do not think you are able to take it apart, clear out what causing the jam and put it together again safely, then buy a new shredder and take better care of it.

    6. Take care of it.
Feed it half the number of sheets they say it can take at once.
Do not over fill the bin (that's the only time my one gets jammed)
    Oil it occasionally.
    Read the manual to find
    (a) maximum time you can use it continuously, (b) how long to let it rest.

    7. I have a cheap £15 bottom of the line paper shredder which I use often. After 13 years its still going OK.

  • I'm astonished that someone is so time poor that they need an auto sheet feeder. Or that anyone in a home environment has that amount of confidential stuff.

What else are you going to be doing that's so important that you can't feed your crap into a shredder manually?

Kind of defeats the purpose if you let your secret stuff pile up before having a binge-shred.

My £30 job from Staples is going strong after 8 years. Gets a tiny bit of sewing machine oil couple of times a year.
