Half term next week so I am thinking of some cheap ways of entertaining 2 teenagers, I have orange wednesday for cinema so thats one afternoon taken care of while I go to work, will give them pop and sweets to take with them as the prices in the cinema are criminal.

I have encouraged them to invite some of their school friends over next week and will sacrifice my dining room table for a table tennis table (we have a clip on net). I will be off work on Thursday and Friday and plan to take them shopping for shoes, that should take SEVERAL HOURS and I have budgeted for new clothes also. I will have to see if any McD's vouchers are around or may grab a pie from Greggs (they actually consider this a real treat as I dont buy them usually, and its a cheap lunch they can have a pie/sausage role and a cake for less than £1).

    Is there anybody there:rotfl:
Never mind I am used to talking to myself and up to now I dont answer myself back which is a good sign.
I have been mystery shopping my @rse off all month and have now made over £85 which will go directly into my overpayment account. I have decided to use my unused Barclays account to pay any extra cash into and have set all MShopping money and quidco earnings to be paid into there. At the end of the month, whatever is in the account gets sent to the mortgage.
Its not looking good for my budget this month and early predictions show that I will fail miserably at sticking to it. Again [strike]we[/strike] OH has spent too much on drinks and nights out and we are over budget on food and Gas. Will post a full damage report at the end of the month.
Kids are being good as gold and have been selling on Ebay during half term I had a MShop at McD's drivethrough and they were delighted as I brought the food home so they could have it for lunch.
I just had a quick look at all my survey site and pigsback balances and have over £45 between them I am going to let this build up towards Christmas 2008, which I already have quite a few presents put away for thanks to the Boots sale.

I think that we should take it to a garage and an auto electical place for a price and base our decision on the information given.

OH wants a new car! He wants to spend around £3500 - £4000. This is money that we don't have so it would mean borrowing.

Do you have a local garage or auto electrician you can take the car to? Hopefully the repairs won't cost too much. Tell hubby he can't have a new car, £4,000 buys a lot of repairs. And who is to say the new car doesn't come with a host of hidden faults?

    Hello FB

Quite alot going on over you thread, I guess everyone likes you better than me boo hoo:rotfl:

Jorgan I am going to take 2nd car to an auto electrician either tomorrow or Friday as I am off work for half term (only got 2 days), its a nightmare trying to get your car fixed when you work as it causes no end of problems. OH will have to take the big car to work and I will just have to stay at home.

Don't know how much it is going to cost but I dont think its going to be cheap considering the amount of faults. Oh, and my exhaust which the garage said should be good for a couple of months is blowing again. I am hoping that it will last till payday. But you are right, I also think that a new car is out of the question and after discussing it with OH he now agrees that repairing is the best option if we want the mortgage gone quicker.

It's really freezing here with a mega thick frost, more gas coming today so thats another £68, thats twice this month! Not funny!

I have just received my updated mortgage rate from A&L which has fallen to 5.49% from 5.74% this means that I will be saving £10.23 in interest a month.

I will add another £10 to my overpayment to get the full benefit of this rate cut.

Off to work now, see ya later.

Depending on where exactly the exhaust is blowing, you may be able to patch it yourself with a kit bought from a motor factors. Done it myself a few times and they can last for months.

Our cars are 9 & 10 years old, both with over a 100k miles on the clock and I spend a couple of hundred pounds a year on servicing & maintenance. Yes, you do get a big bill every now & again, but thats probably about the same as a years deprication on a three year old car.

If it costs a couple of pounds to fix the car, at least you know its been done.
