Sorry if I missed it in a previous post, but how many days per week do you work and how many hours per day? If working 3 full days per week the number of days of leave entitlement will be 3/5 of a full time employee working 5 full days. The most common way of handling leave entitlement for part time employees is to state how many hours leave the entitlement is.0

Thank you for responding,I work 5 days per week Monday to friday 4.5hrs a day,my contract states I get 28 day holiday 5.6 weeks, yes I am part time but I work monday to friday so entitlement is 28 daysTELLIT01 said:Sorry if I missed it in a previous post, but how many days per week do you work and how many hours per day? When you were paid holiday pay, was it for 4.5 hour days, or more than usual?Signature removed for peace of mind0

The way it's being worked out is completely wrong.
I would go back and state are you only allowed to take holiday in December? Is this the case for everyone in the company? If not then that's discrimination. If it is then how does the company operate in December with everyone on holiday?
And speak to payroll direct. Even the manager of that department.
You could also speak to you manager's manager.
And access your last 5 years payslips to see if this has happened before. You could be owed a lot of days holiday

Sounds like they've set up the payroll system incorrectly for holiday tracking. It can be set up to accrue your days off or it can be set up to give you the full entitlement from 1st JanuaryTeddy080522 said:
Thank you for your response,I have received a breakdown of my holiday entitlement for 2024,the 8 days were just days I requested for annual leave not bank hols, but there is a comment on this breakdown saying payroll didn't pay holiday due to my balance being 0 ,I have a work app that I use to clock in and out of my shift and to request holiday which like I said I requested it was approved,so shouldn't the person approving the holiday take some responsibility if possibility of them doing it how you've stated,I am being told that I need to work out my holiday and my boss is just being very vague with his answers to me.Sarahspangles said:Is the confusion being caused because you’re part time? As you only need 4.5 hours off if you’re not going in that day, you get 20 part-days and part-Bank Holidays. Which is the 28 days you refer to.But many employers work this out in hours.
If a full time worker gets 20 days plus Bank Holidays, you would get a proportion of that. Assuming the standard working day is 7.5 hours you would get 4.5 divided by 7.5 times by 28. That’s 126 hours (including the Bank Holidays).
If someone has recorded your 10 days leave and 8 bank holidays as 135 hours - 18 times 7.5 hours - as if you were full time, then you would’nt have had any leave left. Because 135 hours is more than 126 hours.1 -
So no one in the organisation can have any holiday in January as no one will have accrued any holiday.
You need to speak to HR as what your manager is saying is unlikely to be true.0 -
As employers can dictate when holiday may be taken, this is perfectly feasible400ixl said:So no one in the organisation can have any holiday in January as no one will have accrued any holiday.
.If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -
Does any body else part time?
If there is, how do their holidays work out?
Do any if your colleagues understand how the holidays are worked out?0 -
By what my boss is telling me,when I spoke to him on the phone,a few months back,so for example he said to look at my wage slip at the current end pay month, and look at the bottom and look,I looked at my current wage slip the end of January it says accrued so far 96.312,I earn 54.00 per day,so by the end of Jan,that is 1 days holiday, even though I work for this company,I work on my own,so never see any other workers as they work at different sites,so there is no one to talk to and ask them, trying to get in touch with my boss is just frustrating as I can only email him as he said that's the best way,I email him and it takes him a few weeks to respond,so me earning 1 days holiday by the end of Jan is that even right, seeing as I have been with this company for 5 years,I'm sure when I have taken holiday all previous years,I have been paid correctly, but as in my previous comments, does earning 1 days holiday by end of Jan seem right, yes I know I work part time and from what I have read it's pro rota400ixl said:So no one in the organisation can have any holiday in January as no one will have accrued any holiday.
