Sorry for repeating, I just want to be clear. Anyways an update

I rung the passport office and they said signature aside, there was a rule introduced that meant regardless of how long the passport is valid until, a passport is valid now only for ten years. Mine was valid from 2015-2026 but this no longer matters due to the new law that stipulates as said that passports are valid for ten years, regardless.

Therefore, I have done a fast track application and am off to London tomorrow to sort it out. Thank you for all your help. It’s a good thing I checked as in the end, it may not have been the signature that mattered, but the fact the passport would have been expired. This caused quite a storm amongst my family as they kept saying I was all going to be ok but I was still jittery. However all is calm now and a day oJT in London can’t be bad.

All this said, thank you for all your help and support! It is much appreciated.

There's no new law like that as such, but it is a condition of entry into the EU with a non-EU passport (as it always has been) that it must be within ten years of issue - the expiry date, however much beyond ten years, is still recognised once in the country.  This doesn't affect travel to Egypt though....

Thank you for your help. I think the issue is when you ring the passport office is that you get conflicting information yet both advisers said exactly the same. I’ll explain the situation to them as I think even signing over the signature may be an issue so it’s good to get it all sorted and should there be issues, it can all be resolved tomorrow.
  • Well at least you will have a valid passport for the next 10 years ,if you have any travel questions in the future ask on here rather than your parents  :):):) ,only kidding but enjoy your holiday.
