Ok so pin bottoms out (not sure about good “thunk”, seems to come back up fairly instant & everything inside the head is going up and down as it should. Which of the rad's supply pipes is hot - the one to the TRV or the l/s?

I will check Thankyou. By the way this heat is when it’s set to zero I’m going to check if it’s still fully heated left to right when set on 5 etc

The zero setting on a TRV doesn't shut flow off completely - Often, zero is the anti-frost setting or 5-7°C.

I thought the snowflake was anti frost

Not all TRVs have the same symbols & numbers. Mine goes from zero (a snowflake) all the way up to 6. And right at the end of the scale is a small zero to shut the valve firmly off. Many TRVs will only go up to 5, but never 11 (Spinal Tap joke). Really depends on the manufacturer. There is no standard for this sort of thing.
