debitcardmayhem said:Hi forumites, asking for some advice please. I currently have an induction hob , which is the bees knees imho, sadly I am going to lose the use of that, pacemaker / defib to be fitted.Don't be too hasty in getting rid of the induction hob. BHF says that you can still use one as long as the pacemaker is at least 600mm away from the hob. Then again, this guy is saying there isn't really a problem in real life -> https://dradhya.com/2020/06/28/is-it-safe-to-use-an-induction-hob-if-ive-got-a-pacemaker/I'd suggest having a chat with your cardiologist, find out exactly what type of pacemaker is being fitted, and if it is sensitive to EMF from an induction hob.Her courage will change the world.
Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.1 -
Are you absolutely sure you need to abandon your induction hob? I have a CRT-P device and continue to use mine with no problems. My electrophysiology consultant said there would be no problems, as long as I don’t lie on it! I think the advice to steer clear is out of date. I could even have an MRI scan with mine, should it prove necessary. I am equally enamoured with my hob, I got clearance from two consultants and a specialist nurse to make absolutely sure.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Competition Time, Site Feedback and Marriage, Relationships and Families boards. PS, regardless of your cooking dilemma, have you come across a website called ‘Pumping Marvellous’? It’s very upbeat, bang up to date, full of factual information and advice for people with heart failure. Designed by a chap who was diagnosed in his 40s, who decided the HF needed better PR, so as it was his field he decided to do something about it. There are helpful guides to the drugs, procedures, implants, tests and diagnoses. All written in easy to understand language. There is also a closed Facebook group which is very pro-actively monitored, so no pseudo-science or medical advice gets through (“have you tried chamomile tea?”). It’s a very supportive group of folk in the same boat, who understand your fears and frustrations, and freely share their experiences. HTH ❤️🩹I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Competition Time, Site Feedback and Marriage, Relationships and Families boards. Many thanks to all, and we have ordered a 2 ring portable ceramic, keeping the induction and the clean lines of the kitchen.
We both appreciate your comments and suggestions and hopefully will carry on …
