Well if it was me, I would remember how much I saved in £'s when with them. How much I will save with Tomato Energy going forward and forget about it.0

@Chrysalis The involvement of The Mysterious Third Party may explain this.0

QrizB said:On your final Octopus bill, was the closing reading shown as Actual or as Estimated? If estimated, Octopus will refill once Tomato's reading has been validated. If actual, in your shoes I'd be complaining to Octopus.
It says closed reading, also in email correspondence they claimed tomato energy sent it, I have since sent tomato energy's own reading and informed them I am prepared to contact Ofgem.
They have now relented on the reading and tariff, and have asked for time to rebill which I agreed to. I wonder if it was a rushed bill to avoid the compensation for delay.

How many other people on here do you see report their entire final month on Flexible? the common trend is only for the missing days.
Tomato energy also recorded their own reading at 11th January, a day after the move which is 6 kWh below the end reading Octopus used.
I will do, they have said they going to fix it, but if nothing happens, I will post back, please find that screenshot if you can anyway, as it might still prove useful for me, thank you.1 -
Reed_Richards said:Surely correct protocol is that your new supplier takes or is given a starting reading. They pass this reading on to an adjudicator who might adjust the reading. The adjudicator then passes this reading on to your new and old suppliers so that they both use the same reading. This might cause your old supplier to issue a revised bill, even if the previous one had been termed the "final" bill.
I supplied that starting reading, and also gave it as a final to Octopus, but for some reason it was ignored, however what saved me, is that TE took their own reading just one day later, which is lower than the claimed end reading from Octopus, that one day old reading was not submitted by me so very hard for them to dispute.0 -

I havent calculated for the excessive reading, that will be on top. QrizB did it, so both combined a tenner.

Still going back and fro today, they dont seem very competent, having to explain the correct tariff to bill etc. Have now sent them the Octopus Compare data, so if rebilling is too hard for them, I will accept a £6.50 credit instead. Apparently a staff member logged I requested the change to flexible.1

A bill was produced by Octopus for my electricity just within 6 weeks after I switched away to Tomato.
On the bill it says "closing reading", with a whole figure no decimals.
All other previous readings have been smart readings.
Would Octopus have obtained this "closing reading" from The mysterious third party as Tomato Energy never asked me for an opening reading as they failed to send me any emails or documents after I switched.
Tomato's first bill does not included any opening readings.
Looking at the calculations between them, they have double charged me a small amount for the same energy usage.
Could it be that Octopus have just plucked a figure out of the air to issue a bill in order to avoid the £40 compensation for late billing? The Octopus bill does not state final bill anywhere.1
