Get £300 meter credit from EDF

I've read that EDF don't always pay up after the installation, I'm going to ask for an email to be sent to me with the terms of the offer before I agree to the installation.
I'm on the EDF tracker Apr26 tariff that has exit fees but I've read some people have got out of paying the exit fees, maybe if you change to another fix they waive it. I was thinking of fixing with Ebico as I'm a low user, or do another refer a friend offer but I have already just done Octopus, EON and EDF. British Gas and So Energy do refer a friend offers but you have to stay with them for 90 days, on the more expensive SVR tariff.
Are there any other energy companies that do refer a friend offers?0 -

Well hopefully my "tame" agent is on my case. Perhaps they get a commission for successfully getting a customer to sign up. I shall just wait & see if she gets back to me. Maybe they have slots that they can allocate before they make it online.0

I finally got a slot. No fooling - 1st of April. Got everything in writing and have copies of all to and fro emails with customer service agent (always the same person, which is reassuring). Now to use my "satisfied with service" experience to encourage a few more friends to consider making the move to EDF and bag more referral fees. But I'll not breathe freely until that promised £300 arrives.0

Just realised I never came back here with an update.
I did get my smart meters.
I did get them in "dumb" mode - which is what the installation engineer called it.
I did get the £300, which means FREE energy for about 5 months
I am a happy bunny!0 -

Why dumb mode?
Does it bother you? It doesn't bother me. End of.0 -

No such thing as a dumb smart meter - when a supplier says it's 'dumb' all that means is they aren't using smart readings for billing. A comms hub is installed when the meter is commissioned, to which the meter remains connected for software updates and the like.1

Job done to MY satisfaction. Never really wanted SMs but at least this has put a stop to the calls, texts & emails badgering me to get them. I wanted to indicate here to others against SMs it is no big deal to have them & put you in the same position as with the old mechanical ones.
Comparing readings now against old meter it confirms the 26 year old was still registering accurate daily usage. This new one apparently may have its battery die in just 10 years. This is progress?0
