Hi first post be gentle but want to pass on. I have always avoided smart meters but had PAYG meter with EDF card playing up. So thought I would ask about smart meter installation. Signed up last week still in 14 day cooling off period with SIMPLY TRACKER + Apr26. But here’s the gift because I asked for smart meter installation for gas and electric I got given £150 meter credit for gas and electric and it was added yesterday. So for anyone that’s think smart meter installation thus offer is until March 31st. Hope I have not broken any rules thanks

This might be better on energy forum as well, have asked for it to be moved.0

This is a very good news story, if I had known then what I know now, I would have held off with smart meters and waited and waited till the suppliers offered free cash to have them. Once they are in, they are a good thing as I don't need to remember to read them. But if they go wrong, the suppliers are not quick to fix them.1

They have had this offer since early January. The stumbling block is finding an available installation date - most days this week there was not a single available date in the next 7 weeks. On days they did show availability it was pot luck if it was a date that suits. It might vary by region of course.
However combined with the money from sharing referral code with friends/family it more than compensates for the defunct WFA, so definitely has been worth hanging on for.0 -

Can I ask if the smart meter offer is directly linked to the Simply Tracker tariff do you know?
Many thanks0 -
In my case it is linked to me being on a hit list of Refusniks! Or to put it another way I have been resisting because a little bird told me that if you hold out long enough you get an offer. In fact they did offer me £100 last year but I never managed to secure a installation slot, so have been playing the waiting game. Fingers crossed this time. But I am waiting for confirmation that I will still be on SVT and MVDD as there is a LOT that is not covered by the published small print. Watch this space. They claim to be adding new appointment slots all the time but it is definitely a waiting game here.
I have also heard that they are making the £300 offer to new EV owners, but that is Chineses whispered info so don't quote me.
Of course these incentives will save them the cost of fines so it must be financially viable for them.1 -
Fair play. Seems like one of the exceptions where you certainly don't lose if you snooze.0

To clarify do you just book the smart meter installation and then receive £150 automatically?0

I was sent the offer by email in early January, with the condition that I book by the end of March. I now have a "tame" customer service agent watching my account who says she will advise me when new dates become available if I happen not to see them online.
I have no idea if the offer is open to everyone making a booking. Maybe it depends on whether the change is essential because your current meter, like mine, is well past it's certification date. A friend on EDF has not had the offer but is gnashing teeth so I have offered to treat them to coffee & cake when (if) I get my windfall.1 -
I spoke to someone from EDF today who said you receive £150 per fuel to have a smart meter, and it does not depend on the tariff. Is this correct?
I was told I would be contacted to book an appointment.0 -
I have been told I don't have to change tariff to get the payout, just agree to a "successful" meter installation. Sounds like you also are coming into money! Expect you will hear when a slot becomes available - there was nothing showing today through to end of March.0
