Take a look at this LCD first before buying that 19" 20" 21" screen for your mum

** This deal not ready until Thursday 3rd Jan 2008 So this really is just a little heads up, giving you another option before buying that 19" LCD with 1 year guarantee you may have been thinking about as this deal probably costs the same as that **
What do you think about this? Its a deal I stumbled upon today, four days after I purchased a John Lewis TV that at the time, I thought was a good deal.
Firstly I have to make very clear that I am a cheap skate.. 'BEKO-IKASO' should really be my middle name. So if in the next few paragraphs your expecting to hear SONY, TOSHY or BOSSY mentioned - sorry but this post is strictly for my fellow Chav's.. Together we shall unite.
Try not to laugh at this, but this deal is so cheap, they couldn't even afford to name it.. its just a nameless 23 incher heap of (A: Electronics) (B: Value) (C: rap) - you be the judge.
However this is still an amazing deal (For folks like me planning to give it away as a late christmas present) to your mum or or someone else your not really bothered about.
Ok heres the deal:
23" LCD
Netto
£279.99
No contrast information (too cheap)
No Ratio information (still too cheap)
http://www.netto.co.uk/internet/nettog/menu/main.nsf
BUT GET THIS!!
It is also HD Ready
It has built in Freeview
It has a built in DVD player
AND wait for it... It has a flipping 5 year Guarantee!
(When you think how old you will be when the guarentee expires, its scary)
This compares to my purchase:
Humax 23" LCD
John Lewis
£299.99
5 years Guarantee
HD
Freeview

Whilst I may be cheap (the original MSE), im also very wise. My philosophy is quite simple, if its cheap - beyond a joke, then make sure it has at least 3 years guarantee attached to it as its inevitiable that your more then likely going to need to honor that warranty at some point.
If your on a hunt for a new TV, why bother buy from anywhere else other then JL or M&S? These stores offer you FIVE years peace of mind AND free delivery on ALL tvs. Fair enough sainsburys may be £40 cheaper then JL but you only get a mean 1 year guarantee (and some nectar points) What you going to do when your TV gives up its spirit in 13 months? Really does not make any sense to me especially when you consider JL have a pricematch policy anyway and so will match sainsburys or empire directs offers. see below for more info on this:

As for my mum.. Shes happy enough with her Humax LCD in fact she loves it, but then again I did let her suffer for 6 years by letter her get her viewing pleasure off a casio 3.5 hand held. (Least she could watch the TV on her mobility bus en-route to Margate).
Thanks, Enjoy 2008!
PS. Im taking Humax back to JL and going to get that Netto 23" LCD and £20 change, I have my heart set on a nice 32" LCD (nice brand cheap pice) but you dont really want to hear about that now do you, anyway my fingers are knackerd but I will keep you updated.

Hello DMG24, may I take this brief moment to offer you my sincere and genuine thanks (and apolgises) for highlighting the unnecessary and unrelenting use of english grammer to express ones thoughts and experiences to the greater community at large. A full explanation as to how this manifested itself is availible upon request; a brieif explanation is availible now for your convienience.. Given the reasonably incredible value proposed by the indicated, despite it remaining anonomous, televisual apparatus availible for purchase by a usually convienient branch of Nettos, one could not help but wet ones pants in the excitiment of being in receipt of said product. In my more detailed response, as yet not requested by anyone, it examines the precise relationship my MSE name has to do with how I interact. What has been identitfied is that as yet one has not become a victim of the self fulfilling prophecy >Syndrome<, which clearly means ones prefered option is to keep it short. So the considered, forthwit and definitive answer to YOUR question (which you neglected to equip with a question mark) and concludes my response at this juncture is.......... Yes. :A"One truly finds Aldi, Lidl and Netto, way too decadent for ones budget"0 -

Oh just about crying - no disrepect to dmg24 but brilliant reply. As a lady of many words at times, I do empathise with you and although I won't be taking up the offer (no Netto near me for starters) and I'm skint after ordering the dell laptop from the grabbit board, and operating on a need / want basis, I want a new telly (as hate the 28 widescreen brick I have), but need a laptop for my uni work so it wins).
Welcome to MSE and I'm sure a few will take up the offer and be greatful for your posting along with the other very informative information as many do not think about this when buying a new TV.0 -
