Don`t overthink things, its a generalisation on a theme, to get a message across, it doesn't have to have happened in real life as yet, its to ensure you don`t get bothered.
Its like the debt collection letters you receive saying "we have been trying to contact you" when they haven`t, it just a means to an end.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. I’m having a serious wobble about whether this is the right thing to do or not and whether I should speak to creditors and see if they will reduce interest, payments etc.
my main concern is them calling work or work checking credit file for becoming director and dmp being perceived as worse than ap for example. I’m not 100% whether they would even check, they haven’t for being shareholder etc or ever mentioned it. It’s an Ltd.My partner is also concerned about the dmp seemingly think the ap may be better or perceived better.0 -

A lot comes down to what you want from this. So if you want interest to stop, and the debts to be gone from your credit file as fast as possible, then defaults are the way forwards. AP markers are likely to mean that it will take longer to pay off (because they may not freeze the interest, for example) and will definitely mean that the debts stay in your file for longer. Why does your partner think that the AP markers are likely”better”?You can deal with phone calls by simply telling all your creditors that they are not permitted to contact you by telephone, as already said. If they then breach that you have a cause for a formal complaint against them.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Thanks EH,
I guess she sees a certain morality in paying something rather than nothing even though that may be for a certain period of time.I sent emails off to creditors telling them not to contact me by phone but only had one response saying I would need to ring them to change my preferences - should i or should I just re-iterate my point by email?
none of the others responded. The emails were sent to their complaints email addresses. Is that enough or do I need response? Will get at least one affordability compliant off tonight and still looking at others.0 -
I do want interest to go and the debts asap im just really concerned about the work aspect.
if I spoke to creditors and they don’t play ball then thats that really id have no choice but to go dmp.I do think I’ve got some good shoots for affordability claims though but who knows if they will come off.Really appreciate all your help.0 -
Reiterate the point by email - there is no reason that I can think of for them needing you to call, and it quite clearly defeats the object doesn't it! Remind them that it is your right to make the choice to not be contacted by telephone and they must abide by that.
As far as I know you don't need a response from the letters you have already sent - the fact that you have stated that "no telephone" requirement is sufficient. If you get any phone calls from those you have written do going forwards then politely point out that they have a "no contact by phone" instruction from you sent on X date - and that therefore them phoning you now counts as harassment. You can also simply red button or block calls from numbers where you know it is a creditor.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

Evening,
I’ve had a significant win, Barclaycard refunded me 7k almost in interest so that’s took just over half off my largest credit card balance. One letter is all it took, I got a letter back saying they were looking into it but then nothing else, not been looking at the app just got a statement and there was only 6k outstanding, checked back and they had applied the interest refund nearly a month ago.
reasonable to ask them for a letter how they came to this amount etc? I think so want to make sure they are applying from correct period etc.
still waiting on Zopa conplaint that should only be few weeks now.0 -
Also although they have refunded interest they are still charging it on the remaining balance - is that right?0
