Afternoon Everyone,
We're on a play date tomorrow so l went shopping today instead. Popped into Aldi after our dentist appointment and brought a pizza to take tomorrow, 50% of 900g chicken thighs, and a few seasonings total spent £10.58.
Then in Tesco l spent another £41.34 my lowest spend in months !! Maybe it was the hungry, whining, children in tow that kept me on target 😅. Mostly fruit and veg, lunch box snacks and a pork shoulder joint because it was on offer.
New totals £ 340.38 /£500
I still need squash and cheese, but I'm delighted 😄 with the amount I've spent, considering it's half term

Good evening All.
Hope everything is well with you. Apologies if I’ve missed anything momentous - I’m about 40 posts behind. The last post I read is @Nelliegrace’s regarding Cadbury losing their royal warrant. I am not surprised, but I have to report that Dairy Milk has always been far sweeter here than in Australia. Ditto all their other chocolates.
I have multiple small shops to report from last weekend/this week. Rather than bore you with the details, I’ll just give you my new total:My February GC Spend stands at £110.80/£165.30 leaving £54.50 for the rest of the month.
Have good evenings. Now… to catch up!

@Quantaqa re your query about WW2 diaries, as a starting point, I can recommend the three collections of Mass Observation diaries compiled by Simon Garfield: “We Are At War”, “Private Battles” and “Our Hidden Lives”. There’s also Nella Last’s diaries, the first of which was dramatised about 20 years ago. (You may have seen “Housewife 49” on television.)

February Budget £140
DH has spent £6.56 on milk, cream, pears, bananas, and y.s. green beans. He has made the bread. It doesn’t seem worth going shopping again this week.
We have had a frittata, kedgeree, sausage stew, and chicken stew, jacket potato with tinned corned beef and winter salad, making use of items from the freezer and store cupboard.£39.89 spent £100.11 left.

Another spend to declare, leaving £51.90 for the final week of February. May be tight as I will need to buy dog food next week, but at least the freezers full so will have to eat from there.5

Spent £2.99 last night on a TGTG bag and £1.99 on coffee beans, both from @ldi
My bag was a bit disappointing.
About five bags of spring greens. two bags of stir-fry veg, a bag of beansprouts, one sourdough flatbread, two milks (which I handed back) and a basil plant with nothing left on it
I was hoping for a bit more variety. The last two have been disappointing. I'm going to leave it a while for the next one, as you can normally get most of that kind of veg from OlioGC Jan £101.91/£150 Feb £70.96/150 Mar £100.43/150 Apr £108.45 app/150 May £149.70/150 Jun £155.15/150 Jul £134.25/£150 Aug £98.42/£150 (includes food, toiletries and cleaning from 13th to 12th of each month. I don't bother with TGTG bags from Aldi anymore. They always seem to have loads of one sort of veg and not much else! The last one I got had 5 boxes of mushrooms - we eat quite a lot of mushrooms but not 5 boxes when they're not even perfect to start with!
