February 2025 Grocery Challenge

A trip to Lodle and I am £17.35 further into my budget.  But I now have chicken in an apricot and tagine sauce cooking in the sow cooker. I added extra apricot and onions and mini potatoes.  Should last me two - three meals.  Had a small pizza (type thing from their bakery) and salad for lunch.  Salad was last of the fridge store.

A small spend of £1.30 in Morrisons to add to my spends for a pot of single cream.

£3.65 spent today on spices. I will need to get a few bits on Thursday to last us over the weekend but that should be fine until next week when I've got another delivery booked in.

Only day eleven and a huge amount of the budget is spent. We should be able to stay in budget though. Mostly it will be OH's milk, OH's eggs, bread, vegetables and fruit needed.

I think they all try to sneak things through when you are not paying attention. It was Morries. I only C&C'd because there was a £12 off £60 for online or C&C. At least if it is C&C I can see what they picked as I load the car, and reject anything not as expected. I much prefer to pick myself

Ok that makes sense; but I would definitely pull them up on it if it happens again.

I just went and hunted out the Morries substitution policy - it's a 3 phase thing that I have pasted below. Mine was in the first category but the offer one interests me. I shall look for this. The complication is that things on offer that you buy, get added to your favourites and show up with the offer, even when it no longer applies!:

When a product is unavailable, we always aim to provide you with a suitable alternative. We'll notify you of any substitutes before delivery. If you choose to keep the substitute you will pay the price of the substitute not the original item.

Substitution for an unavailable item on offer:
If the unavailable item you ordered was on offer, then the same discount will also be applied to the substitute product.

Unavailable item in a meal deal or multi buy promotion:
If an unavailable item was part of a meal deal or multi-buy promotion, you will still receive the promotional discount on the rest of the items in the deal.

Just a small spend on mushrooms from local shop, £1.10 spent since last time I posted. Have run out of milk this morning so will probably have to get that after school and try not to buy anything else. Have the main shop coming on Friday.

My "l just need milk shop" turned into milk, cheese, squash, bannanas, caster sugar and ibuprofen shop 😅

Another £10.63 spent.

spends of £13 in tesco today, also collected lots of veg from olio. yay at last!! so £13/£100 budget so far.

Spends of £43.69 (dog food) and £83.04 (food and DH snacks) in Aldi and Sainsbury's. This will keep me going for most of the month though, apart from milk and bread.
