Ooh I need this.  So determined to make progress with the debts this year, just spent 20 minutes cancelling a subscription that had auto renewed, thankfully got it sorted.

I have packed my lunch for tomorrow even though we haven't got much in the fridge.  DH will go to Lidl tomorrow, he seems to spend less than me!

Sold some unused hair product on Ebay for £10.  No clothes bought this month at all which is a miracle for me.

Mine is silly but I really am v early on in my DFW journey (again) - I need some nail buffers, some kind of treatment and want a new foundation. I however have a whole Ikea crate with nail things in and have an overflow box of make up plus two bags so I will first see if I can make do with what I have got.

I gave up the big River shop for Lent last year and think I'll do the same this year and try and keep away from it after too, so will cancel my Prime membership. Best start getting into new habits now.
Hey, not silly at all and a great start.  Why not take an evening to sort your box and bags any you're never going to use why not list on Vinted or suggest a swap with friends.  Another idea is to combine offers, for example Boots have special offers, combine that with their scan to recycling scheme and you get the products you want and extra points - make sue you also use all the apps no matter how infrequently you use the stores.

Also make sign up for free samples that pop up on Social Media - I give a bag full to my grand-daughter every few months, although I have a friend who sells them on Eb*y, she gets £1 each for the postcards that come with the samples too.

Ahh fabulous, feels like all the family is getting back together - missed this thread and at the moment I need some structure to my days.

Life has changed massively in the last year inparticular - hubby was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer (inoperable, stage 4), mum was 90 and had a rough year with an aortic aneuryism (inoperable), two falls resulting in a broken femur (inoperable) so we had time in hospital, care home and now home with carers 4 times a day.  As many of you know I had a heart attack in 2014, then had another in 2021 and then unfortunately in September I had another massive heart attack and was blue lighted to hospital, during the angio my artery was torn and I had a further 5 stents fitted.  I was then diagnosed with a condition called SCAD - my hospital discharged me and referred me to a hospital in Leics as they don't deal with it and Leics do in the form of research.  Recovery this time has been slow, I get out of breath having a shower, cant walk far so my lists may be sparse but I'm here cheering you all on, this has always been my safe place.  My aim for 2025 was to thrive but its delayed a little longer as I was re-admitted last week and thankfully not another heart attack "just Pericariditis".

Anyway, enough waffle, while there is a lot I'm not doing at the minute there will always be things I can control and I still love earning a little extra where I can.

    Come on peeps, lets go!

Morning ziggy, that's a lot you've had on your plate. And yet you're still the lovely ziggy I've known for years  <3 hoping you continue to recover and get the help you need. I don't know why I stopped posting, something to do with the stress of covid and I just stopped coming here. I suspect my sm use increased considerably at that time as well. In the last few years I qualified as a social worker and am now practicing (adult services).

    Small plans for the day:

    * NSD
    * all meals from stores - we're doing this thing where we make a big batch of something and eat it for 3 or 4 days. This time round it's spag bol. Will make a stovetop lasagne tonight. Coz it's meat I need to freeze a few portions today.
    * cancelling an appointment and wfh as not feeling great
    * hang up washing indoors as have the radiators on
    * put compostable items in the heap :)
    * update my overtime/expenses
    * try to have a productive day and not get pulled around by the never ending demands on my time
    DF as at 30/12/16
    Wombling 2025: £87.12
    NSD March: YTD: 35
Grocery spend challenge March £253.38/£285 £20/£70 Eating out
    GC annual £449.80/£4500
    Eating out budget: £55/£420
    Extra cash earned 2025: £195

We've had some troubles, but nothing like you have. Take care, my friend.

    Hi January Money Jugglers,

Just waiting for DW to wake up so we can go to Asda for some groceries.

    Another precious day off today.

    Debt-Free-Nillionaire Continuity Plan Year Nine:

    • Alarm clock off at the wall during day time. ⏰
    • Get some bargains at Asda for my work packed lunch. Big Asda is further away than medium-sized Morrison's but we prefer it. The prices are better. And it's a prettier drive down the coast.
    • Do some free repairs around the house. DW won't like the smell but they're necessary. 🛠️
    • Have a look at spending £10 my Dad gave me, if I see something I really want.
    • Cancelled charity lottery. We didn't win a penny in 6 months.

    And then later I...

    • Brought 64p yellow-sticker veg and made chicken soup using stock saved from a roast the other day.

Thank you so much to @ziggy2407 for starting us back off - I'm sorry that things are so difficult but you are an absolute inspiration <3
I've often thought about the thread and I really missed everyone on here. I think I stopped posting because I was using it to set unrealistic goals and then beat myself up over it...

So... things are pretty tough right now, I'm ngl. Our landlady gave us notice on our rental. We were in a position to buy (no small thanks to everyone here that!!!) and we've had an offer accepted on a place and we've hustled and got organised very quickly. I think it might have been a bit naïve of us though as we're now 2 months post-offer and the vendors haven't even put in an offer on a house yet. We have to be out of here at the end of March and although we have various options open to us, they are all obviously far from ideal.

Running along in the background on that, my mum is due for open heart surgery some time in the spring. My dad is now disabled (also prostate cancer) so I will be their main carer for a month or so (free accommodation!). Then at some point, probably in the autumn, hubs is going to be a live kidney donor for his brother. I've also just been referred for some investigations on my br3a$t, although the Dr suspects a cyst as opposed to the big C.

    Aaaaand breathe...

So really I need to save all the pennies I can! So today my small things are:
:cookie: wfh which saves petrol - done
:cookie: using reusable period products - done
:cookie: lunch and dinner will be from the batched dishes that I made yesterday
:cookie: this evening I think I will do a free stretching video to relax a bit
:cookie: Little walk at lunch time and take some bits to the cs - done but cs has closed down
:cookie: Reconcile budget sheet as coming up to the end of the month - done
:cookie: Do Duolingo (am part of my friend's subscription so it's free for me!)

    Have a lovely day all
    clf x

    Big ((hugs)) @ziggy2407 and @carrielovesfanta
@ziggy2407 I am so sorry to hear that you and your family have been going through all that
@carrielovesfanta I had suspect lumps removed more than 30 years ago (before the imaging technologies that exist today) and others since, and am still here to tell the tale. >:)   so try not to worry too much. esp if the doc thinks not too serious. Easier said than done I know <3 Hope your housing situation and the other stuff sorts itself out soon.
Shopping today, also went to the garden centre to get some seed potatoes, shallot sets, a few seeds and wild bird food.
It is so lovely to 'see' everyone again <3
Also it is good to be held accountable - my spending has gone up and up over the past year or so, even just at the supermarket, and I make most things from scratch :#  I know about inflation etc, but feel I should be doing better!
I did cut up and freeze the remains of a reduced rosemary foccacia that I bought at the garden centre's lovely but very expensive farm shop. We had some with our lunchtime soup, but it wouldn't have got eaten in the next couple of days. Also froze some chicken stock that was in the fridge that wouldn't get used before it went off.
Horrible rainy day again today but at least I haven't had to deal with a lorry load of wood today!
