What small DFW things will you do this w/c 27/01

When we start on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards, and canceling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer every day to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important 😀

Happy new week and Happy 2025 everyone!
Way back in 2007 I found MSE and eventually found this fab thread and it quickly became a part of my daily life, I learnt so much from the regulars and although I wasn't in debt it reminded me that it really is the small steps that can make a big difference to all aspects of our life - health and wealth. I am hoping that we can re-introduce this fab thread and welcome back some of our regulars and lots of newbies - nothing but respect and support here!
There are a number of fabulous quotes to remember on this journey "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step" and "Small deeds done are better than great deeds planned" - so let's go and make this a great week

Today we are waiting to see if logs are going to be delivered, so I might well be carting logs from the garage at the bottom of the garden to the log store up by the house - probably in the rain
Not money saving either, as we will need to pay for the blessed things! The exercise won't do me any harm I suppose.
Other than the great big logs bill, I have no plans to spend. All food will be from home.Must phone my elder daughter at some point to check with her when we can meet up to give her a birthday present. She lives some distance away so I can't just pop in on the offchance.Just had a phone call to tell us that the logs will be delivered at about 10, so better get a move on. Wish me luck!3 -
Mine is silly but I really am v early on in my DFW journey (again) - I need some nail buffers, some kind of treatment and want a new foundation. I however have a whole Ikea crate with nail things in and have an overflow box of make up plus two bags so I will first see if I can make do with what I have got.
I gave up the big River shop for Lent last year and think I'll do the same this year and try and keep away from it after too, so will cancel my Prime membership. Best start getting into new habits now.:eek::eek: LBM 11/05/2010 - WE DID IT - DMP of £62000 paid off in 7 years:jDFD April20177 -
Good luck with your journey @beckstar1975 and I hope you find the beauty products you need in your stashSome on here call it 'shopping from home'3

@ziggy2407 Thank you for restarting this thread - I was only thinking about it a few days ago!
What have I done so far today that's money saving?
Checked my spreadsheet for January so far & pleased with how little I have spent on food & other household items. Mainly due to too much food bought & not used over Christmas, luckily nothing perishable. I have also been entering the daily Spar competition & have received several vouchers for free items or £1 off a shop.
Replaced the liner in my very small bathroom bin with a bag that the bananas were packed in. Also used loo roll packaging for small pedal bin in kitchen.
Made 2 meals from one tin of chick peas, left over mushrooms & peppers & other odds & ends. Topped with grated cheese & breadcrumbs from freezer. (Any stale bread gets blitzed into crumbs & frozen).

ahhhhhh Ziggy! And others
well done, sad the thread petered out so happy to see you guys again. Maybe it'll be like a rolling stone!
I really haven't done much, had a bit of a tough day at work. But I did:
I did have lunch out - which is really unlike me! But I wanted to have lunch with a colleague who seemed like she hasn't made her peeps at work. She then asked if I wanted to go to the gym with her on Thursday as she has 4 guest passes a month. So really it pays to have lunch with a friend!
it's not from today but I have kept my gc spend for the month under £170l, which I'm pretty chuffed about!
Oh my goodness that's all! I will make a big effort tomorrow!DF as at 30/12/16

Ahh fabulous, feels like all the family is getting back together - missed this thread and at the moment I need some structure to my days.
Life has changed massively in the last year inparticular - hubby was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer (inoperable, stage 4), mum was 90 and had a rough year with an aortic aneuryism (inoperable), two falls resulting in a broken femur (inoperable) so we had time in hospital, care home and now home with carers 4 times a day. As many of you know I had a heart attack in 2014, then had another in 2021 and then unfortunately in September I had another massive heart attack and was blue lighted to hospital, during the angio my artery was torn and I had a further 5 stents fitted. I was then diagnosed with a condition called SCAD - my hospital discharged me and referred me to a hospital in Leics as they don't deal with it and Leics do in the form of research. Recovery this time has been slow, I get out of breath having a shower, cant walk far so my lists may be sparse but I'm here cheering you all on, this has always been my safe place. My aim for 2025 was to thrive but its delayed a little longer as I was re-admitted last week and thankfully not another heart attack "just Pericariditis".
Anyway, enough waffle, while there is a lot I'm not doing at the minute there will always be things I can control and I still love earning a little extra where I can.
Come on peeps, lets go!
