Sky TV & Broadband help

Hi - I have Sky TV & Broadband + sky.com email.  As Sky TV is getting expensive, am looking at cancelling Sky TV and / or broadband. If I cancelled one -  would it impact on the other OR if I cancelled both, would it affect my email address which is via Yahoo! I believe.

As you can see I don't really understand how these things work as have been Sky customer for around 20yrs. Advise / explanations / suggestions welcome 👍😉

Sky TV is completely independent from Sky broadband.  You can cancel TV without any effect on anything else.

Your sky.com email will probably go bye bye when you leave Sky Internet.

Thanks Neil. So if keep broadband would still keep my email & access to Prime, Netflix etc on our TV? Sorry if seems daft question, but as I say I find it all a bit confusing

You will keep access to Amazon Prime and Netflix on your TV as long as they are installed as apps on your TV and you are not accessing them via the Sky Q apps section of the Sky menu.

There is also the chance that you get a discounted price on your Sky broadband for having a bundle of Sky services ( broadband and TV ) so getting rid of Sky TV may put up the price of your broadband, you would  need to check your Sky bills/documentation , or call Sky and ask  , however calling you may get the ‘hard sell’ to not to drop any Sky products

OP - you have 4 distinct products:

    1.  Sky TV - Netflix can be provided as part of a Sky TV package and I am assuming for you it is

    2.  Sky Broadband - this may be discounted because of your Sky TV package

    3.  Sky email - currently you do not need to have Sky Broadband - you can change your Broadband provider but keep being able to access your Sky email

    4.  Amazon Prime - entirely separate from Sky.  You subscribe to AP of which Amazon TV is a perk (part of the AP package

If you have a modern TV, Freeview and main subscription icons (Amazon, Netflix, Disney, Now, Apple TV and others) are provided - try pressing the home page symbol on your TV remote.....  Bit like your smart phone icons for apps show up even if you don't use them.

You can subscribe independently to Netflix just as you do for Amazon Prime - there are 3 types of subscription

I would strongly advise getting an independent email provider i.e. gmail, hotmail, yahoo where  it is 'youremailusername@gmail.com' etc.  That way you are not dependent on a link to a broadband provider.

I have recently ditched Sky TV and am very glad I have.

    Good luck
