I used mine because I get 4% cashback - but I have the cash to pay it all off when the bill arrives - first time ever!

We didn't use the credit card for christmas but we do need to carry on being careful through January to make sure we don't overspend. I've quite a few birthdays this month including my son's birthday though i've bought most of his stuff in the sales. xx
    January budget
    Nothing left!
  • i managed to save some money each month and bought a lot of stuff in sales during the year so its all paid for. i hit the sales this week and stocked up on a whole load of half price toys so am already partially sorted to 2008

i cancelled my one and only credit card just before Christmas so i couldn't put anything on credit now if i wanted to

Hope everyone has a good DFW 2008

    sc xx

Not a penny spent on the credit cards as able to make use of the money reclaimed from my earlier mistakes !!!!!
Mortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!

We spent way too much, BUT not a penny was on the credit card so altogether fairly good. I'm already setting a budget for next year's spending!

    Happy New Year everyone!

  • This is the first Xmas I can remember that I haven't bought stuff on credit. I started getting presents and bits for Xmas dinner i.e pudding back in September. It is a good feeling that I won't be dreading January post!
Second and final LBM 01/01/11 Nearly got there but fell of wagon. HAVE to do it this time
  • First EVER Christmas without using credit cards for us!:j
Thanks to this site and everyones help we got £450 back from Quidco at the start of December (from insurances paid in August/September) and used that instead.
but - also got paid early from work & used some of that as well:rotfl: so January is going to be a bit tight.
(but at least we aren't behind with anything and we haven't increased our debt)
So feeling a little bit smug here ;) even though didn't manage to stick to original budget
  • No spend on cards at Christmas for me. First year I have not been overdrawn on current account either. I really have listened to all the advice on here and did not go overboard on food either. Changed my gas and electric supplier during year and paid by d.d. so no large bills dropping through the door like last January. Last but not least gave sales a BIG miss.:T
  • Didn't use the credit card for Xmas the 1st time EVER :T In fact although we have a few cards we don't use them at all, they are just for balance transfers left over from when we "lived" on our credit cards:eek:
Also we are not overdrawn, another 1st, although a bit peeved with Lloyds as they have upped my overdraft limit to £3,500 without me even asking for them to, in fact I reduced it a couple of months ago, but they made such a hash of it ( taking it away altogether!! ) that I'm loathed to ring them again.
The only thing I'm not so thrilled with is that I only payed mins off of cards as we still spent too much:o

Well done to all the other Xmas without the card mser's:beer:
Comping again - wins so far : 2 V festival tix, 2 NFL tix, 6 bottles of wine, personalised hand soap, Aussie miracle conditioner

Stuck everything on the credit card because I get reward points. Ended up sending over £250 more than I had budgetted for but I'll still have this paid off by end of Jan before any interest is due so I don't feel too bad about it.
