Solution for a slippery path

Hi,

I have a 10 foot long paved path that gets slippery. Probably because of mould/algae build-up.

Rather than a chemical I have to scrub with, is there an easy solution. Perhaps a exteior rubber mat or something I can put down? I doesnt need to be pretty.

Thanks

A power washer is probably the simplest option.  You'll likely only need to give it a blasting over once or twice a year if it is just algae.
The problem with putting some kind of matting on top is that, unless you can secure it, you run the risk of the mat simply sliding about on top of the algae when you walk on it.

Thanks. Im physically incapacitated at the moment (not fully, but enough to prevent me from scrubbing/cleaning).
I see what you mean about the mat slipping though.:|
I was hoping of an exterior rubber matt thing. All the anti-slip matts Ive found are for interior use. :(

I would also suggest a power washer, it will strip all the slippy algae off. If you have a neighbour/friend/family member who has one they might be delighted to have another opportunity to play with their toy! All the folk (men!) I know who have one clean everything that doesn’t run away when they get started. A 10 foot path would take about 10/15 minutes to clean.

Ms Descrabled sprinkles cheap washing powder on slabs. This is alkaline and removes the algae. Best carried out in dry weather as it gives time for the chemicals in the soap powder to work on the slippery algae before the rain washes it off the paving stones.
She uses bio soap powder usually but non bio also works. Best repeated a week or two latter to provide the best results.

Now while I don't like using chemicals I'm in a similar position that I can no longer scrub even with a broom and my neighbour gave me some path cleaner.
Diluted in water in a watering can you put on on a dry day and in the next couple of days it's like new and stays like that for a year.
This was called Wet & Forget.

Times change when you have difficulties but this didn't damage anything though I covered plants but it didn't affect the grass where it ran  off

I then bought my own organic etc but it needs putting on with a brush and only sort of cleans. That was Algon.

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

if you put a mat down I think it would get slippery maybe the best is what twopenny says in one of the treads above this.

Thanks all for your comments. I think in the first instance I will try Wet & forget and see how I get on. Thanks so much! :)

I've been using this stuff for years and it's great:

    https://www.tmchemicals.co.uk/q-clear-algae-remover-231-p.asp?campaignid=19069690723&adgroupid=&keyword=&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAkc28BhB0EiwAM001Tb6MZePCilqEs4FcMs_lj3pHaA4TDU7T6bwmJLnjZ2OQi02xA-WSUhoCo-IQAvD_BwE

I'm not sure if it's the same as wet and forget but you just dilute it and spray it on and you'll notice moss etc starting to turn brown and die within a day or two. No scrubbing needed.

I use it in one of the handheld 1.8 litre sprayers. The 5 litre bottle of Q clear I bought about 10 years ago still has about 2 litres left in it.
