My Cheap Energy Club result is always rubbish

An exclusive EDF deal was touted in an email this week quoting 7% savings.
Logged into the club - guess my result - No Saving : PLUS £31 !!!!!
This is actually the worst result ever, usually its 3 or 4 pounds more at best.
IMO these headline figures amount almost to clickbait which is conduct unbecoming of MSE.
I fully understand that everyone's usage and possible saving is different but it ought to be made much clearer what the quoted % figure relates to and that it "might be possible" as an actual saving.
I have complained strongly about this and even suggested that Martin should be made aware, but the replies don't give me any confidence that anything will change.
It's such a shame because obviously MSE is generally brilliant and rightly well-loved.

If it wasn't based on your usage and region, why are you making a fuss about it?1

Give us your figures please
Just run mine - West Midlands - a little over 7.4% - but excess's mean its a NONever pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -

And the headline seems to imply that everyone will save 7%.
(Thought I said all this in my post)0 -
If I switched I would see a saving, there may be reasons it’s not as cost effective for everyone, like low standing charges from their current provider. For the sake of the 90 secs it took to log in and update my details it’s not a big deal.Fashion on the Ration
2024 - 43/66 coupons used, carry forward 23
2025 - 60.5/890 -

Exact energy prices depend on where you live and what you use. That's why a comparison is crucial so you can find your bespoke price. Our comparison does three big things we don't think you'll find elsewhere…
Which is as honest as you can get.Life in the slow lane0 -

The comparison will be against Mr Average using 2700 kWh electric and 11000 kWh gas on the OFGEM capped rate. Any media comparison is pretty useless as even the quoted capped rate is an average across the different regions.

New. Exclusive cheaper & longer than the cheapest fix deal (with MSE enhanced service). Max 10,000 available. It’s an E.on Next deal via our Cheap Energy Club comparison undercutting every other cheap fix, and it protects the rate for 16 months, rather than 12. Like all tariffs, the price varies with use and region (your exact rates in the comparison), but it’s on average 7% cheaper than the current Price Cap, so currently a £120/year saving for someone on 'typical use' (more if you use more). If the Price Cap rises as currently predicted, the real saving would be even bigger.
Would be better if "typical use" was properly defined and to add (less if you use less) as well just to be absolutely clear.
Also, 7% cheaper in bold type naturally attracts the eye which can imply it's available to everyone.
I'd guess most folk are not too keen on maths and don't dig into the finer details.
So then it's a massive disappointment if you get a result like mine which is so far, far away from what you hoped.0 -
I do understand why I get a lousy result.
My usage is fairly low compared to average, so the daily charges dominate the total price paid.
So lower kWh prices don't help if the daily charges stay high.
I'm only imploring MSE to make this a lot clearer to everybody.0 -
