Worth noting that some payments can take up to 5 days to show in the app, so to be on the safe side you need to make your 20 payments with at least 5 days spare before the end of each month.

To qualify for the double Cashback do the payments have to be after the switch has happened?

I would imagine yes - Section 2 requires that all steps in Section 1 are completed first, which is where the actual requirement to switch accounts is specified.
The way I'm interpreting this is once you open the account and initiate the switch, you do 5 debit card payments, which qualifies you for part 1. The slightly unclear bit is the 20 debit card payments to get the 2nd part going. It's worded they include the month you open the account so I'm assuming another 15 to accompany the 5 will be enough to get the first £10.

This reinforces the need to apply for the account at the very start of a month perhaps to allow the time for card arrival, switch etc so as not to lose time to do the debit card payments in and avoid hiccups like delayed card arrivals etc meaning you miss out on month 1.
My switch is due to take place on 13 February so plenty of time. Not sure I’m going to be popular at the self scan when I put through 10 items individually 😂
I've done it a couple of times. Just pick a time when there probably won't be a queue, is my best advice.

First eligible day for payment today. Would TSB text when they’ve done it? I had texts from NatWest and RBS but haven’t done TSB before

edit: no text but it’s in my account now
