Seems unusual , not only no direct debits needed, but also no requirement to pay in £1,000 or £1,500 in the first month .
Up to each bank which demographic they wish to attract. In this case it looks like its people who use a debit card on a regular basis and either don't have a large salary or use another account for their income.

Quite sensible, though. Many regular switchers - including me - would set up two DDs on a burner account, do the switch, pay in the necessary amount, take it straight out again and wait for the bonus. Once bonus has arrived close account, repeat ad nauseum.

At least this way they are encouraging customer loyalty, i.e. actually using the account for at least a period of time!

Filling in the switch form on an android phone seems impossible. You get to the choosing a date of switch box and it brings up a calendar but then won't put the date you press into the box and there is no way to proceed the form without this.

Yeah, I went straight from the website, which was optimised for mobile phone, to the switching form which wasn't. My switch failed initially for other reasons, so I had to do the form again. This time I did it on the PC where you can actually read the form and fill it in without difficulty

I want to go for this.  I have a 2 accounts with Chase and want to use 1 to switch to TSB.  I know that should be fine, but if asked for a debit card number for Chase do I give it or say that I don't have one?  It is currently linked to the Chase account I want to keep.

    Thanks,
    Paul

I've had mixed success in the past with providing/not providing the Chase card details so I'd recommend you provide them. Doesn't really matter if the Chase debit card is set to spend from the Chase account you are switching or not though. It will default back to your remaining Chase account after the switch completes if you switch away the one it is connected to.

To qualify for the double Cashback do the payments have to be after the switch has happened?

I would imagine yes - Section 2 requires that all steps in Section 1 are completed first, which is where the actual requirement to switch accounts is specified.

This reinforces the need to apply for the account at the very start of a month perhaps to allow the time for card arrival, switch etc so as not to lose time to do the debit card payments in and avoid hiccups like delayed card arrivals etc meaning you miss out on month 1.

My switch is due to take place on 13 February so plenty of time. Not sure I’m going to be popular at the self scan when I put through 10 items individually 😂
