Urgh!! broadband help

I need to get broadband for working from home, so any suggestion please?  Is Plusnet any good? Or Earth? I've read through Trustpilot's reviews on all the providers that cover my area....and now I'm thoroughly confused !!

Plusnet are ok (owned and use BT network). 
Others to consider that are good value,  NOW (owned by Sky so good network),  Vodafone

Plusnet ischeap for a reason -  I am with Plusnet it is basic.  Not had any problems that would need to contact them about and have FTTP.  Not sure I would go with them if a heavy user with a family

Is this "working from home but I can go into the office if the broadband goes down" or "working only from home and no broadband = no work = no income"?

For the former, a cheap consumer ISP will probably suffice. For the latter, a business broadband contract and/or a 4G/5G wireless backup would be a better idea.
