i must say we've had one from B&Q paid £3,800 for it and the guy who fitted it done hell of a good job.He did some alterations to what the designer did and was even better,a scabby little lean-to kitchen i have, but the way the kitchen is now to what is much better,i had 2 double sockets and one single(which must have been a mistake) cos i'd have no sockets left for kettles, toaster, etc after the appliances  but he put the sockets under the counters out of the way and gave me an extra double socket(can never have enough:D) switches for my Oven, which was the wrong one sent (should have been 4 gas rings, but we had 3 and one double burner like India restaurants have:D and he even put ducted our extractor fan right out(no smells or condensation at all now) all in all he did a good job for us little things ,like the sockets, cant see the joins on the counter and he had a hard time doing that i can tell you and the touch's like plinths on top and under the cupboards stuff i'd never though of.So we were happy,oh bar for 1 thing big, big, big no,no was those bloody lights which go regular and cost a bomb, the top one goes all the time so i put a strip light up there more light and is brill.

This is MSE-and lots of posters tell how they are being quoted double the normal rate by these companies-thats not "a bit more",thats a rip-off.
See post 25, it can give you the best of both worlds.
No need to be so aggressive is there ? All opinions are valid remember.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Hi I`ve just found this forum and have read the stuff about B&Q and cost of fitting. We are about to order a B&Q kitchen and would like to know if anyone out there can recommend a good fitter - we are in East London.
Also is MFI better than B&Q for price/quality.
Thanks0 -

Interesting read this post. I'm looking to get a new kitchen fitted soon and am getting quotes of £4,000 plus which is more than the kitchen itself! Anyone recommend a decent (and cheaper) kitchen fitter in the Gloucestershire area?0

Hi Guys
Had B&Q out today to design a new kitchen for me. It's a tiny kitchen and I was pleased with the design BUT the followings prices had me flabbergasted:
Remove old kitchen £298
Install oven £154
Install hob £150
Install extractor £73
Install kitchen £756
Install floor tiles £220 (4m2)
Install wall tiles £200
Remove old wall tiles £220
Plumb dishwasher £120
Plumb washing machine £150
Install mains earth bonding £215
Install RCD or RCBO protection to existing ring main £250
Total cost to install (and they are just the ones that jump out at me )£3661
Total cost of kitchen £1646.34 without oven or hob.
Is it me or are their prices above excessive?
Hope you were wiser than us...we signed on the dotted line...and live to repent. B & Q contracted our fitting of kitchen to Tuckers in Bristol. Kitchen arrived 08:00 Monday morning, partner had to help un-load it all...hurting his back in the process!!...no fitters, no phonecall to advise us, kitchen filling up our lounge for four days...and nothing but heartbreak, frustration, anger thereafter. All I can advise to anyone reading this is...read all the small-print, examine every price quoted i.e. we had one item costing £216 for floorboard replacement...we have a concrete floor!!! We are still fighting to get back £560;00 they still owe us for goods that had been paid for and couldn't even be used!!! Shop around folks, you can do it a lot cheaper and with much less stress!!!0
