You should have got a minor works for each circuit as a minimum, or an electrical installation certificate to cover it all.
If you live in England / Wales you should have got a Part P certificate.
if you had a gas hob installed you should have got a corgi cert.
hope this helps
think so, He gave me a pile of certificates and warranties. He brought in an electrician and corgi man (and also a plumber) so I think I got a very good deal.0 -
If you can find a local fitter, he may have access to trade only type suppliers.
I got B&Q out to design the kitchen, then passed that to the fitter. He managed to get a better kitchen from another supplier for 1/3 the cost and fitting was around half the B&Q cost.
The sink and taps from the trade supplier were good quality and came to less than the cost of the B&Q tap alone.0 -
I looked at B&Q but the fitting costs (and some of the feedback on here) put me off.
I was really lucky to be recommended a local guy who got me a lovely kitchen from Howdens, all the appliances, and charged £3500 which included supply, tiling, electrics, new ceiling with downlighters, new flooring and laminate. All done and dusted in a week with minimum disruption. He even called me up a month later to ask if I was happy with everything.
If only he could have fitted my bathroom too! as of next week it's been a month since the plumber removed the bath, toilet and sink and hasn't yet replaced them. (Bath and toilet (no cistern!) are here, just not fitted!)
Two completely different experiences of using local guys!
Good luck with yours!
Well done with the kitchen. Sounds perfect, exactly the service I am struggling to find! What part of the uk does your fitter work?"you're never fully dressed without a smile!!"0 -

Where do you live? I have a friend who fits kitchens part time as it was his full time job but now works full time in electrics. For the work he charges about £800 a kitchen ( less or more depending on kitchen).£2 Savers club £0/£150

I'm glad I read this thread!
B&Q quoted us £13,000 for a kitchen, £4k of which was just for fitting. We live in a 1-bed basement flat, and our kitchen is tiny! - so we're a bit stunned. We're having some building work done internally, and the builder said he would fit our kitchen for us as it was so small - so maybe we'll take our quote down to Howdens and see what they can do - but we didn't really expect more than half of £13k _pale_ .0 -
13k! that really is scandalous for a 1 bed flat, kitchen.
nearly as bad as the 75k quoted for my uncles conservatory!
re the chap who wanted a phone number of a kitchen fitter?
the man lives 800 yds from me and he travels all over to fit. him and his brother. his usual price is approx 500/1000. units/tops etc....
few yrs ago he went to Reading to fit a large kitchen. he did it for 5k.
supply and fit. (took a week). the owner had a best quote locally of 25k!Get some gorm.0 -

That's a common problem with builders of various descriptions - they either don't turn up for the appointment or they don't provide a quote after having a look.
For something like a kitchen installation it's worth going to a store, even if you pay a bit more for the privilege it takes a lot of the stress away.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. This is MSE-and lots of posters tell how they are being quoted double the normal rate by these companies-thats not "a bit more",thats a rip-off.0
