Thought this link may be of interest from a company who repair ECU's. It appears that a simple short circuit can cause the fan to run at full speed and also cause ECU problems, which by the way are now occurring! I don't think it beyond the realms of possibility that the garage caused a short circuit whilst they had the car.

well in an MOT, it is beyond the realms of possibility. There's nothing that can be done in an MOT to cause this.

Just get over it will you? It was sods law, nothing else.

Actually it's not sods law. Clicking that link to BBA Reman shows that boatman has a French car. Therein lies the problem. You bought a piece of French junk.:D

  • Even if it was unless you can show the garage didnt use due care then you still have no case

If you bought a car with dodgy electronics, thats not their fault

How is your legal case coming on?
  • !!!! happens. Deal with it. Regulators are a common fault, they get hot, they dry out, they die.

If your heater is manual (ie not climate control) then the chances are it has nothing whatsoever to do with the ECU.

They didn't break your heater. Your heater just broke. Its tough luck.

Even if they did break it, you've got exactly no chance in hell of proving it.
  • this thread is funny

NO WAY can the garage be held to blame for this
