Car savings are going really well!

  • Thank you @jwil, usually I would have let the refunds be used on groceries (though if we were in 2024 or before then we'd also be in our overdraft), significant improvements since the end of last year, it's been completely mind blowing.

  • Morning :)

Productive morning as I sorted out under the stairs and have found numerous shoes and jackets to be donated and also threw out 3x pairs of shoes and 2x jackets that were certainly passed wearing. I also threw away 5 items from the bathroom cupboard whilst I was brushing my teeth - now I'm in the thick of the decluttering, I am finding it easier to review and sort things even when completing daily tasks.

So, financial and environmental tasks and goals are on track... physical not so much, I have no energy to exercise but this needs to change...and quickly!

Hope everyone has a great day,
    Wendy x

  • Just reading about cashback apps / cashback giftcards... does anyone use these for their general day to day spending that they would normally do anyway? It would be great to get some user knowledge / experience insight. In the meantime I'm going to go and do a bit of research :)

Ask @edinburgher. Here's his diary - I recommend it. Also, he's very good at alerting people to offers, gift cards etc on Top CB

Where I work (public sector) we have a scheme where we can buy gift cards at a discounted price. If I'm going to buy something I always have a quick glance to see how much of a discount I can buy them for. I tend to do this a fair bit around Black Friday then go via TCB/£co to maximise my spend. I always check the cashback sites prior to spending anything too.
I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)
  • Thanks @Suffolk_lass and @Sun_Addict - very much appreciated :)

I use topcashback for all my online shopping and insurances etc it’s def worth taking a look at! for any shopping on the ground I.e food shopping I use JamDoughnut, you just buy a gift voucher for the amount you are spending and get a % back (think there is a sign up bonus too)

with jam doughnut I would recommend adding up what you are buying before you get to the till though, iv’e been caught out a few times having to confirm via captcha etc and do get some funny looks from the people behind I am holding up 😬

I am personally so lazy around this, but I do use my John Louis card for many things, so I get vouchers from them for my spending. While working, some things had to give and this was my line in the sand. I am busier now, than when I was working, with three charities that I am either administrator or trustee for, volunteer roles, plus my hobbies, and a bit of doing nothing
