Just wanted to show my husbands Christmas project, the shelf was a spare cupboard door and we just utilised part of shoe rack for bottom, just need a bit of white tape for chipboard to cover that. He even took the bit that we did not need which used to hang coats and put that In Garage for cycle hats.
just cost us for new hooks, I love it as there is plenty of hooks for bags etc and it was relatively cheap 👍👍

    Happy new year all!!
    2026
so not a good start to my financial journey this year!
I made a financial foo par!!
I thought I was being clever and paying for part of car finance on Tesco credit card, didn’t see anything about charges, luckily I only paid half rather than full amount, I’ve just had £288 charged to cc for cash transaction fee 😢
im gonna have to suck that one up!
the next payment will be debit card as I’m sure no charge will be applied to that.
On the positive side, my hw has been approved so I can start picking up some OT once kit comes in(hopefully 2 weeks time)
and I’ll work to reap that back from OT.
you live and learn I suppose 🙏
I had a lovely message from an old work boss as she sent a reference off for my new job, love her, she did it straight away which is so useful.

    i need your thoughts please??
my next job isn’t as well paid per hr but I will be working more so will get more monthly.
there is also potential for growth and professional development too and I would like to drop to part time once I get 1995 nhs pension in 4 yrs.
my present job is really emotionally draining and I only work part time because i could not work that job full time, think it would just lead to burn out.
Homeworking is coming so I’ll have minimal overheads. I’m trying to sort a way to keep both jobs as i could do extras but this employer is terrible about annual leave and that’s really important to me, time with hubby is so valuable.
i think i know the answer and I don’t want to spread myself too thin, its just I’ve done alot of training for this job, seems a shame to totally bin it.
i have applied for agency but I think you need a year in job. I am waiting to hear back. I’m just having pre new job wobbles!!
im also considering paying off mortgage in May this year as the redemption would not be a lot and the financial freedom would be a huge emotional benefit!
I know it makes sense to keep in savings but it’s a purely emotional stress response.

So after my wobbly start i feel better about everything, typically the 1st job is ready for me to start asap, I am going to have to email them and decline it! The other job is progressing well and manager has rang me to ask how it’s going which was nice, all references already done and just one last thing to do so I’m hoping that might mean I get a start date for that and I won’t have long in between end date and start. I will wait until just before probation ends and give a week notice. Hopefully they will be just as efficient as 1st job, is that too much to ask?
Anyway I have made the decision that we will pay mortgage off in May now, ERC should be minimal as it will be in last year and psychologically it will be so freeing so we are now on the countdown !
    122 days to go.
I have set up a countdown, I must make sure I pay the £92 extras allowed from this years op allowance so I can reduce balance as much as possible, pay full 10% the op max allowance in May when it resets so i can minimise ERC

hopefully next week things should start to come together with new job.
We have planned most of our trip to see daughter in Florida, just waiting fo her to let us know when they release special crew rates for us, hopefully next week as March has come out.
just got to organise last couple bits with car hire and one more hotel.
day off today which is nice, I’m tired but hopefully I’ll get out for run/walk later 👋

    119 days to go 😀
I got husbands travel insurance and mine for cruise and it was a lot less than expected, as my hubby has been ok, i can now get him insured on nationwide again and so he’s got worldwide coverage for a year and I’ve got cruise added for just £40, his cost £150 but that’s good compared to some cruise insurance, coming out at £350 due to medical conditions.
1 less thing to sort, just waiting for discount on cruise, holding on until daughter lets us know.
got 2 days off now, I’m feeling tired.

So my lovely husband has landed a big promotion, he so deserves the recognition and I’m happy for him, after taxes i think he’s disappointed by how little it’s increased his wages but he’s happier than he’s ever been and there is scope for further professional development.
We had a good chat as my health has been suffering with this job and he suggested I just quit now which I have done.
i only had to give a week so I’ve left on sick leave, i won’t be returning.
I’m taking time while this job processes, I’m confident it will happen as the onboarding is all completed, just waiting contract.
i will be taking time for me, to unwind and get better, then start some little home projects while I’m waiting.
we will have to use some savings to see me through a couple month potentially but I can repay it once I’m working.
health is so under rated but so important
