I'm sorry that one didn't work out, but it sounds as though they are keen on you. Are you taking them up on the offer of a possible alternative within the company?

And I agree about the garden growing apace this time of year - it feels as it I only have to turn round for there to be a bramble trying to snake its way across the grass or some flowering shrub to be all green and a foot wider in every direction. Wouldn't swap it for something less lively, of course.

My answer to this? Go and paint the shed (well half of it because I got too tired to finish it!). 🤣

Thanks to paying the minimum payments on the credit cards I now have about a hundred pounds credit left on them so I have some space for some food if I need it but my gosh I don’t think I could cut this any finer if I tried!

I did say yes to the question about if I would be interested in other jobs that might come up but I wont hold my breath. I will just keep applying to uni’s where they advertise relevant jobs and hope I get something soon. 🤞

Nothing like deciding today is the day you will turn a patch of gravel into another border and finally plant a couple of shrubs in the ground that have been in their pots for FOUR years! 🤦‍♀️ I couldn’t choose a day in all that time when it wasn’t 26oc?! Nah, that would make it far too easy. 🤣 Poor plants are probably wondering what on earth is going on but hey, it is another bit of garden done and it looks nice against my freshly painted shed.

I sat for a while admiring my nicely dug and planted border, then began the task of barricading it from the dogs! See my dogs love to dig. They are generally very good and only dig wherever I am digging but that means freshly planted things are at risk. Once everything settles again the dogs will generally leave them alone but for now lots of barricading needed. This morning Little Dog reminded me of this unspoken rule as yesterday I did a bit of weeding in the raised bed where the veg has been planted, so with my back turned for 5 mins she has only gone and jumped in, eaten the raspberries, chewed lots of leaves off the pumpkin plants and pea plants and pulled out a few Brussels sprout plants! First time she has jumped in since I put the extra fence around it (making the whole thing over 4ft high!), but disturb the soil and it is like I’ve given her an invite! That said, whilst it does make me despair sometimes, their digging can actually come in handy sometimes. Trying to dig through gravel ridden soil that has bramble roots running through it is no fun, but point the spade at it while the dogs are watching and all I need to do is stand back whilst they rotivate away. They have great fun pulling all the roots out with their teeth and digging down to find the ends! It makes digging it so much easier afterwards, though I do have to put the dogs away once I want to actually get on with anything or as fast as I am levelling the soil out and planting, the dogs are busy undoing it! 🤣

Yesterday I spent 7 hours at my brother’s house just trying to cut a new floor for the van. 7 hours! We called it a day at 6pm for the sake of the neighbours but I need to go back today to try and finish it. How it can take so long to just cut some plywood to fit the shape of a van floor is beyond me. Literally everything with the van takes at least 3 times longer than I expect it to and every time I go to do a job I realise there is at least one prep step that I have forgotten and need to finish first. 🤦‍♀️

Thankfully the new tablets mean I have more energy, though I do hope the side effects of insomnia and restless legs wears off soon.

Little dog is now obsessed with destroying all the vegetable plants in the raised beds now she has worked out how to scale the fence. 🤨 I have pretty much given up all hope of saving what I have planted so far and have added ‘build a permanent frame for over raised beds’ to my to do list. It will come in useful as I will be able to throw insect netting or fleece over it much easier, but honestly, it should not be necessary. My old labs went to my old allotment all the time and never set a foot on any of the raised beds despite the sides being only 4inches! 4 foot should be blinding obvious that is is not to be walked on and no normal dog would think oh yeah I’ll just jump on and off beds that high. Little dog was clearly sent to help me practise patience!
