I'm glad that's all done and dusted - what a cost, though! And is there any chance Big Dog has been watching and worked out that Little Dog gets chicken now she's been shaking her head? I suppose it's a small chance… ☺️But they will both feel much better once the treatments take effect (and it will be a weight off your mind).
I hope the little dog doesn't still feel woozy from her anaesthetic.

another one to check online/shop now you know ingredients. After a dental operation a few weeks ago one of my labs had violent sickness and totally liquid stools then refused to eat or barely drink for couple of days
I rang vets and they told me what medication (paste) I needed for her and what size as they had her notes up. I asked price they said £28 and I could just go and pick it up from themI looked it up and got the same one and same size for £12 at Pets at Home.

My dogs flea and worming has cost a fortune the last couple of time's and when I’ve looked the same products up online they have been considerably cheaper. Trying to buy them online though always states I need a prescription from the vet in order to purchase.
Now I haven’t actually asked the vet yet but you’ve reminded me about this and so will try and call them next week, I’d be interested in if there is a charge for the prescription and curious as to why I haven’t heard about this option before.

When i had my last cat i always got her prescription from the vet which they charged me £15 for and bought her medicine from an online vet pharmacy. There are quite a few online and considerably cheaper. Vets obviously don't like to mention that for obvious reasons. Its really straight forward, you upload the prescription when you order or you get the order number and give it to the vet and they email it across. Ive used 2 different companies and never had any issues 🙂

Oh wow, ok I will definitely be checking online in future! If I can get the prescription level stuff for a more reasonable price I would much rather stick to that. 🤞

Finally got sight of how much I will be getting from Universal Credit. Gulp! I am being paid £737 short in wages and getting £421 in Universal Credit instead. That’s another £316 to find each month. 😰 With the best will in the world I cannot see how that is possible, and that is while I am still being paid half pay! I genuinely do not know how people are managing to live on less?! It makes me so very nervous about leaving my relatively well paid job but I have to keep reminding myself that it is better to opt to leave with a bigger payout than wait a few more months and be pushed out with less.

‘Vetuk’ are great for cheaper flea, tick & wormer medication. I used to get prokolin paste, ear and eye cleaners and all sorts of bits for my dog from there. So much cheaper than my vet.

I got a preliminary ‘yes’ from the VLS scheme! 🎉 I should get the official letter on the 27th apparently but the decision has at least been made! Woop, woop! 😁
There is a little question mark over leaving date given that I am currently on half pay. There seemed to be a suggestion that they would let me leave early and just take the money but I pointed out that the options for the scheme were work the three months notice or be PIL for the 3months. The manager giving me the news admitted he didn’t know the details of the scheme so would go away and find out what was actually possible. Leaving early with effectively less money doesn’t exactly make me want to leap at that as an option! He said he had checked with the Head of department to see if they would continue paying me during the 3months notice period and they had apparently said yes - er yes, you absolutely will continue to pay me as per my contract! I can’t decide if it was genuine ignorance or some sneaky way of trying to pay me less and portraying it as doing me a favour, but either way I am glad my brain is currently working enough to pull them up on it.
Whatever happens though, I know I will be leaving - assuming they haven’t found a way to do me out of the payout money too! Don’t worry, I will be reading everything with a fine tooth comb to be doubly sure before I sign it! 😁
