WARNING - Evans Halshaw, NOT honouring "£500 Extra for your part exchange"

I went to Evans Halshaw (Kia) Stourbridge this weekend and attempted to buy a car on the basis that i would get an Extra £500 for my part exchange as advertised on their website. However they told me that i did not qualify as the value of my trade in car was too low. To make it worse they also valued my car at almost half the value that i had been quoted on line and had been verified at my local Evans Halshaw Direct the same week. I have double checked on line and cant see anything on their web site that says that a lower value trade in would not qualify. I've contacted Evans Halshaw twice now for clarification on the policy and they've failed to respond both times. Is there any ombudsman or similar that i can take this complaint to as I feel this is clearly false advertising.

"£500 extra for your part exchange is available on new and used vehicles ordered and delivered by 31st January 2025. Vehicles taken in part exchange must have a minimum value of £500 to qualify for £500 extra."

What were you trading - or attempting to trade - in?

Can you show me where it says that on the web site? my Ford Focus was Valued at £780 on their web site and this was confirmed when i took it in person to Evans Halshaw Direct to confirm the valuation as instructed on the web site. I also have a valuation of £900 from Motorpoint Coventry. Evans Halshaw (Kia) Stourbridge valued it at £500, like i said this is almost half of its actual market value and interestingly enough according to yourself, exactly the amount i would not qualify for the additional £500. Do you know who i can complain to? as i said Evans Halshaw are not responding to me

It is not a good time for car sales, hence the EH “offer”. Shop around.

It is not a trading standards issue, EH do not automatically have to sell you a car when you walk through their door.

Over the years I have had similar experiences, examples include one dealer not wanting my white car as it looked like a taxi or a police car…

A VW dealer explaining how VW cars hold their value, yet offering me significantly more for my Volvo than my friend had offered for his VW, both cars were approximately the same value. Was there was a hidden agenda to get trade away from other manufacturers?

I had an offer from a Seat dealer to buy back my 2 year old Seat for the same price we paid 2 years earlier… provided we part exchanged it for a more up market model that he was probably struggling to sell!

Not sure if I can post links but have tried above.

If it doesn't work - go to the EH home page, click the blue advert about the offer and scroll to the bottom.

You're right i dont have to buy a car from Evans Halshaw, and after this weekends experience i'm very unlikely to, i also wasn't impressed that they'd also added on to the bill over £3000 of unnecessary warranties and insurances that i'd clearly stated i didnt want.

Thanks Desmond, i've found it now. It definitely says a minimum value of £500 to qualify so since they valued it at £500 exactly it should have qualified. Now all i want is to to find where i can complain to as Evans Halshaw are just ignoring me

I've just found the same car almost exactly the same millage, but a year newer and £400 cheaper than the one i was looking at on Evans Halshaw. Its on Cinch, not used them before and feels almost too good to be true, has anyone had any experience of buying from them?

£400 cheaper might mean it's effectively priced the same if EH are allowing £500 off (albeit not in your case)
Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.

Thats the point really, Evans Halshaw are not giving me the £500 even though the car still qualifies after they've devalued it by £400. The one on Cinch is also a year younger, so i get a younger car and save £400. I just want to know that they are all right. I guess you've not used Cinch then?

Cinch have a guarantee don't they? you have 30 days to give it back for any reason.
