Excel Parking/DCB Legal Court Claims

Hi everyone,
Would first like to say thank you Coupon for the amazing advice you have put on here. I have two claims for my gym car park where I forgot to put in my registration number (they give 2 hours free car parking). I appealed saying I was at the gym during the time but they have proceed to file a claim.
One claim I am awating a court date
The other claim I have just submitted my defence. These are separate claims of around 230£ each.
My question is do Excel Parking instruct DCB Legal to discontinue before a court date? I am a bit nervous as I have been through the thread of DCB discontinuations and none of them are from Excel parking but from UKPC and other car parking firms instead
I am tempted to pay it off if they offer a discounted price (they already have twice but I have declined for the first claim)
Advice would be appreciated
Many thanks

Hi @Coupon-mad. DCB Legal have filed their witness statement on Behalf of excel parking to the courts and have sent it to me ahead of the court date (16/05/2025). Does that mean the court date will go ahead? How likely is it that they discontinue? The claim is for £2300

DCB Legal Excel WS
or
DCB Legal VCS WS
Or maybe words including:
DCB Legal JB WS
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

@Coupon-mad, they have attached 57 pages of evidence, including signs, when I put my registration number in e.t.c. Its hard for me to actually defend myself as I am technically in the wrong, but I just put my Car Registration Number too late. I got a letter saying they have until the 16th April to pay the court hearing, if they don't the claim will be wiped out. Does them submitting a WS mean they have paid the court hearing? How do I check.
Apologies for the multiple questions, I thought they would have discontinued by now as it is only £230.0 -
I think I've sussed that DCB Legal proceed to hearings for multi ticket cases (usually they write their own WS for those because they are chasing the money and it's worth the time spent) and for a couple of firms who agree to write their OWN WS and want the case to proceed, even for single PCNs.
Spring Parking, VCS & Excel are in the latter group so yes, we expect a hearing.
Remind us: what's your WS & exhibits deadline and have you filed & served it?PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I haven't written my WS, and havent been given a deadline yet. I just got an email stating they have filed their WS for the hearing. This case is only one ticket however and not multi ticket. They are claiming £2300

@Coupon-mad im really not sure to right as I am in the wrong and they have chalked out their evidence. I entered my registration too late and therefore I dont think I have any legs to stand on
Can they give a WS without paying the court hearing fee?0 -
Of course, as can you, but it wont proceed to a hearing until they pay the fee by the deadline
You can contact the local civil court after the deadline to see if they paid the hearing fee1 -
Do you think the WS is a scare tactic? @Gr1pr.0
