Anyone owed money from Empathy Funeral plan?

I am desperately trying to find out where my money has gone after Empathy Funeral plan went into administration. O'Haras LTD took over the insolvency, now I cant get hold of them. Jeremy Bennett is who I assume was the Director of O'Haras. I wont say too much about him but looks like theres problems with him.

That funeral plan was one that never applied for FCA regulation.
As they went into administration odds on nothing left.

If this is O'Haras you are talking about. That person is not a director & they have just escaped strike off action.

The accounts make interesting reading, assets down from a quarter of a million to £100. Maybe Mr Bennett was one of the 5 employees they used to have (the company now has 0).
  • Thank you both for your useful comments, you have both been very helpful. I knew Empahy plan hadnt applied to FCA and hence why they were shut down. But I paid into Empathy funeral plan so I assume now any money I paid in has now gone. Unless anyone knows how I can try and claw back any money I have paid? TYA

How did you pay and how long ago?
Googling on your question might have been both quicker and easier, if you're only after simple facts rather than opinions!

Not quite sure what's happened with the Administrators, but it's now Lead Corporate Reconstruction Ltd - Jeremy Bennett is a Director.

Also, unfortunately the last Progress Report forecast that planholders are likely to receive 4p in every £1.

Yes i saw that Jeremy Bennett had something to do with the company. I have since been told he wasnt a Director. I also found something where he was fined £5000 for not being within SLA. Something like that anyway. I think he has also left the company the only one left is a Stephen O'Hara.

Jeremy Bennett isn't and wasn't anything to do with Empathy - he is just the Administrator.

I've decided to do a bit of digging into this lot, who appear to have done my mother and father out of nearly £7k. The Empathy director is still technically a Louise Bond - she's had (I guess her son) Jack on the books briefly too by the look of it, although he was only 20 at the time, and this will have been during the FCA application process. He didn't last long though, having resigned shortly before the company entered administration in Nov. 2022. Louise also has another company with Jack that looks like it's still active (Grasscraft). Their website is down, but a phone number is available on it. A web archive search shows the address associated with this company as Deansgreen Hall on Crouchley Lane, Lymm - this is the same address as Louise has at CH for her Empathy appointment and appears to be residential - in fact it was put up for sale around the same time for just £6m! A Google of that address brings up a few horror stories, most notably about a Roderick Bond - who must be a family member of the Empathy Bonds. Roderick appears to have been convicted and prisoned for VAT fraud / money laundering / bogus film partnerships, and is an ex-Policeman.

I'm starting to think there is a TV show in here somewhere.
  • Hi there, thank you for your comments and well done you on finding out so much information on these "thieves". Its made me feel I am not on my own with this one. Im sorry to hear your parents have lost so much money. I've lost just over a £1000. I'm assuming that none of us has a leg to stand on now and we have to walk away. Which is disgusting when these people are still earning money through other companies.
