Todays money spent
Petrol for the car to get to work £30.00
Weekly food shop today came in at £41.83 very slightly over my weekly budget that i like to stick to. But next week i am on annual leave from work so i have bought more stuff that isnt stuff id normally buy for sandwiches for work and also i have bought more this week so im hopeful that next week i can go a little later in the week as i believe what i have got this week should last me a bit longer and so it will save me money in total over the 2 week period.

One technique to stretch finances is to go shopping one day later each week. It works for some people
At the end if the day though some of these techniques don't actually save money, they change the day you pay it out but don't necessarily save money unless someone is in the habit of chucking food - then that extra day they might be eating food that previously they would have wasted - or it makes them think more about eking food out/buying more sensible choices etc. I think you do well with your costs.

Well tonight i made a lovely Spaghetti Bolognese and also made another large portion for my tea tomorrow after work. I also had enough left over to make 4 smaller portions that i have put in the freezer that i can have with chips or jacket potato or something at a later date

Thanks Daisy, I used to try doing this sometimes and i suppose it can work for some but i like my routine of going the same day each week. Im not a fan of going at the weekend when its busy. Also going a day later each week just makes you buy/go shopping for 8 days worth of food instead of 7. It may move the day you actually go each week but its still the same length of time each period between shops, just 1 day longer that way. It makes you think your going longer each time because the day your going is different but its still the same length of time you went the week before lol.daisy_1571 said:One technique to stretch finances is to go shopping one day later each week. I think next week because im off work i will try and go on the friday in the daytime, as i dont need anything for sandwiches for work next week but i will need things for sandwiches the week after when i go back to work the following monday. I can proably last until the friday with the food i have in now, then the following week probably go back to my normal tuesday shop, although it will just be a small shop on the first Tuesday just to top up what i need.
Thanks for the ideas and advice

I make the weeks sandwiches in one go and freeze them in individual packs, just grab out out of the freezer and it’s defrosted by lunch and the bread is still lovely and fresh (except I’m gluten free and it’s horrible even when fresh - but don’t let that stop you !) and saves time in a morningSealed pot challenge 822
