If you're getting cashback on business purchases (your own business or your employer's business) you need to tell the taxman as well.0

I was under the impression Extrabet has opening and closing times unlike the other online betting sites. Maybe you tried when they were closed
I don't know just a guess.0 -

As a web developer I can say that it is not always the developers fault. Different browsers work in different ways. And I've lost count of the times I've written something that works in all but one browser, then when I write it to work in that browser it doesn't work in all the others.
We don't actually know why they button did not work on the mac with safari, but did with firefox.
You are assuming it's the web sites fault for not making sure it also worked in Safari, and I am assuming there is something about safari that makes it not work and the developer had no control over it.
For all we know it could just be the security setting in that particular installation of safari. It may be saying "I don't like the look of the code behind that button, so to keep the user safe I'll not show it". Maybe ever safari user who has their security setting set lower sees the button.piefacerecords wrote: »this was just to warn people about extrabet through quidco, not to start a fight
No, and your warning is fair, but it could be that a default installation of safari stops the button working, but if you tweak the setting it may appear.
Anyone using safari should check the button is there first.piefacerecords wrote: »...but seeing as we are giving opinions, I think that the job of a developer (my lovely husband is a computer programmer so i'm not being ignorant) is to programme in an accessible way, rather than a choosy way. Business is business after all, and I'm sure nobody at extrabet said, "Mac users' money isn't good enough for us". I think it is the fault of the web developers in this case, as it is no more difficult to program agnostically than it is for just one browser.
I think I answered that above.piefacerecords wrote: »Safari is not at fault here, because if it was, I would not be able to use it on every other website.
No, safari works fines, it just didn't show one particular button. You said the rest of the site was fine. You managed to sign up using safari, it was just that one button that it would not show.
As Firefox showed the button, and I'm sure PC browsers will show it then that indicates to me that the problem is with safari, not the code.
Do a google search for "safari problems" and you will soon see that safari support for javascript is cr*p. It has many other problems too, as do all other browsers, they all have their good points and bad points. Particular when it comes to interpreting code such as javascript, php and asp.
Pick any of them, add the word problems then do a google search. You will find the web is full of people asking for help because a particular piece of code works fine in one browser but not in another. If your code doesn't work in all browsers then all you can do is get it to work in the browsers that the majority of people use.
Two good examples of this is javascript to prevent a user right clicking on a web page and copying it. It works in Internet Explorer, but Firefox completely ignores it.
Javascript that changes your home page can work in Internet Explorer, depending on how high/low your security setting are, but not in Firefox. A couple of years ago, when cashback sites were becoming all the rage in the referrers board we had many people coming in and saying "The site says it will pay my 50p to make it my home page, just click the button to set us as your home page, but there is no button there!"
Everyone of them was a firefox user. Firefox won't allow a script to change your home page, and if it spots script that can do it it won't even show you the link/button for that script.
It could be that safari didn't like the script behind the button and decided not to show the user it, to prevent them clicking it.0 -
As a Mac user at home and a PC user at work, I prefer Firefox as a browser. Safari is a bit of a pain, and I had lots of problems with it, especially with secure transactions, which would take me all the way through the process, accept payment and then not attach the payment to the transaction. These were biggish companies, Easyjet, Argos, to name but 2.
Unfortunately Microsoft seem to have stopped developing IE for the Mac so there are not many options.

I've been using Quidco for over a year now with no problems, until I noticed that just the past three weeks none of my purchases are not tracking.I don't understand why this should happen as there has been no changes to my security settings or anything on my computer.Any advice ,thanks.0
