My partner and I have ended up with a slight problem on our hands!

We're allowed to use the internet for personal use at work, and have used Quidco when making personal purchases. My partner is also the IT purchaser for the organisation, so she makes a lot of high cost purchases from Dell.

She has NEVER gone through to Dell via Quidco at work. Never, ever, ever. But she has made personal purchases through our Quidco account.

We have recently started to notice Dell payments tracking on our Quidco account. When comparing these with our departmental transactions, they match.

What on earth has happened? Is Dell picking up on Quidco cookies and assuming she's clicked through from there? It's so confusing... she would never, ever go through Quidco on the work budget.

I'm really worried that our Quidco account will be terminated because of this! It amounts to over £100 cashback at the moment and that's only over a couple of days.

I've contacted Quidco but no reply yet, after a week... and it's making me nervous seeing the balance of our Quidco account (the one in my signature is the actual, genuine, honest balance )!

Any ideas for what I could do?

I suppose the fact that you have contacted Quidco and been honest about it means that you shouldn't have to worry about your account being terminated or anything like that. I guess you will just have to wait for their reply :)
  • I have had just a couple of pounds from quidco for ebay cashback but it seems to have vanished from quidcos merchant list now.I will check out the others for future purchases via ebay though.

You can also get cashback ££££s from other cashback sites like TopCashback which currently give up to 40% of Ebay's revenue!

I wonder why ebay ducked out of quidco but still continue with TCB

Maybe it was the other way around, maybe Quidco ducked out of Ebay because they wouldn't agree to their sureshop terms.

I know other people that have done this and it shouldn't really cause you any problems. Quidco are only passing on the money they get from the manufacturer and I know a lot of the links do use cookies for this.

One colleague told me that he always logged into quidco on his families PC's and ensured he clicked through to all the sites that he knows they use. His parents for instance use John Lewis a lot and when they bought a sofa he got a nice reward!

The only thing I can think of that could cause a problem would be if you were working in a financial company where it is written that you must declare anything gained, e.g. freebies; and your company could probably obtain a better discount with Dell than just buying off the website.

If you are really nervous about it let your company know if not enjoy the fortune. We all need a little help now and then.

We do it all the time at work.

Work gets the goods they paid for at the quoted price. We get a Topcashback/Quidco bonus for placing the order.

    Everyone's a winner.

We should notify work of a 'gift' but this isn't a gift; it's as a result of hard work finding the best offer for work; just a shame it's through Misco and they give cashback.

Is it any worse than your boss getting those 'Christmas gifts' from suppliers ensuring next year's trade? We've all seen the mysterious unmarked boxes heading to the head of purchasing dept around November/December?

Why should work ever find out anyway? Your quidco account is personal to you and your bank account, and the transactions will not showing on the goods invoice to work.

    I wouldn't stir it!

Hmmm... I'm still not convinced, as the Quidco terms and conditions say the following:

    Member Account Validity and Termination

    14. For your account to be considered in good standing the following conditions must be met:

    ...

14.2. You must only have a single, member account at Quidco and that account must only be being used for transactions personal to you. You may not use your Quidco account for purchases made on behalf of other people.

14.3. Your account has not been, or is not associated or involved with any form of activity we consider to be abusive, fraudulent or otherwise damaging to the business we carry on.

    ...

14.5. We have not otherwise determined that your account is invalid.
We may at our absolute discretion, summarily terminate your account where we reasonably suspect that your account is not in good standing. We may also, at our absolute discretion, forfeit all accrued earnings associated with you or your account/s.

We work for a large public sector organisation, rather than for a profit-making, private sector company.

My partner has cleared her cookies and won't use Quidco again from work, but it's still making me nervous. Am I being daft? A week later, my Quidco ticket remains unanswered... maybe they've never had anyone "complain" about that sort of thing before.

Thanks for posting that part of T&C.

I have only just started to use Quidco and have asked my mum and dad to shop through it, so that I get the cash back, as I am a poor and penniless student....obviously they will buy their own things, so I suppose that I am breaking the rules a little bit.....they might think that I am purchasing on behalf of somebody else.....oooops!

Do you think the account would get closed down then in either case?!

I went to see Quidco when they had the open day and some of the people there had there own business. I do not think it will cause you a problem.
