Assuming that the item is a fake, does that give Dyson the right to keep it? Just curious. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

Trading Standards are the enforcing body in the UK for counterfeiting. Dysons must, and I am sure do, hand over any counterfeit goods they receive to TS for destruction.
Whether Wiltshire Trading Standards have suitable facilities for doing this at their premises in Trowbridge is another matter. Perhaps they invite Sir James to smash them to pieces with his own hands?0 -

So, the OP is entitled to a receipt from Trading Standards?Alderbank said:

I don't think the OP took anything to Trading Standards.0

No, the suggestion in the post I quoted was that Dyson can't just destroy the OP's goods, but must hand them over to Trading Standards. If correct, that's an opening for the OP to hound Dyson, as there's a fair chance that they just binned the item.Alderbank said:I don't think the OP took anything to Trading Standards.

The OP wants their £300 or their fake item back - neither of which they are getting.0 -

Do Trading Standards give receipts for counterfeit goods handed over?GDB2222 said:

I can't think of any law (correct me if I am wrong) that gives Dyson the right to seize and destroy goods that they claim to be counterfeit? Trading Standards may (??) have that statutory power but presumably an independent expert opinion is needed as to whether the goods are actually counterfeit of not?
