    Oh goodness me, what a day for you all. So glad you could be there for sis and niece, and that she got a good night's sleep. All fingers crossed for the scan, and that they can quickly and easily sort out whatever's wrong, and that everyone can have a wash and a good kip soon xxx

    Oh very glad to hear that she won't need an op Vix - you must all be really relieved. Fingers remaining crossed, indeed.

    Thanks all - your good wishes are much appreciated (and I even mentioned that Auntie MV's Internet friends wished her well - I'm not sure she understood!).
    The antibiotics continue but did not produce the expected improvement overnight. Niece is now wearing a very fetching blue line around the swelling to track whether it's increasing or reducing. Fortunately paracetamol is keeping her fever in check and she's much brighter in herself and managing to eat today. She's also started on antibiotic eye drops - but this requires pulling back the massively inflamed eyelids, so is a very unpleasant process. She is being so brave! (And is so bored, which is totally understandable.) I have only been there for a couple of hours today - partly because she had an appointment and partly because I now  have the car and the supermarket free parking is limited to two hours. She's also had a visit from her dad (don't even go there), Dad (mine) and Stepmum and Sis's boyfriend is going later. I'll pop back later if they want me - with offer of finding food for Sis (hospital offering is dire - I took hm sandwiches for lunch today and Sis and Niece really appreciated those).
    Around hospital visits and stuff I have managed two loads of washing, dried on the line too, collected a small piece of plasterboard from a Freegler (for making good where we rerouted stuff for heatpump) and popped to Wickes for a couple of bits we need. Had a quick meeting with Cambridge colleague (that I missed yesterday) and have made a start on something for main client (not much of a start yet). Mr MV is away tonight, so suspect I'll work late.
    MS things:
    * Washing
    * Hm lunch for hospital attendees - Sis has said she'll pay me back for everything, but neither she nor I needs to be paying for carpy expensive sandwiches, which is what we got yesterday from WHSmiths.
    * S&S submitted
    * HW done - what a day - won £10 outright from one bookie (on their freebie thing), thought I'd spend a few 10ps of existing balance with them to keep them on the hook and had another relatively large win (i.e. over £1 - normally it's pence at a time); other bookie, I only won enough for 3 free spins but from those I also had two large (relatively speaking) wins - so that's near payout now too. I've taken £5 from the first bookie, but didn't want records to show that I won it and withdrew all of the £10 instantly (no idea if this makes a difference, but seems worth not upsetting them!)
    Gratitudes:
    * Niece is brighter (although I've just had a text saying her temperature is back 😢
    * Sunshine - good for washing, but also good for all the toing and froing.
    * Lovely Freegler - and his even lovelier self-build in progress! (Which also involved a nice drive out into the countryside)
    Have a good evening all

    Fingers crossed that your DN is on the road to recovery.  Hopefully the temperature spike is 'just one of those things' that the body goes through.  At least she's in the right place for monitoring and treatment.  Poor thing with the drops though - I can't imagine having to help an adult to do that - never mind a child, although I bet she's being super-brave.

    Again, you're so supportive with the catering.  Absolutely agree with the direness of hospital offerings - from the trolley or the vending machine.

    Continuing to send all best wishes for DN's full recovery.

    Good wishes from here too, and I'm glad you're able to pop in with proper food. Hospital's bad enough without surviving on crisps and nonsense! All fingers crossed she's properly better and home soon.

    She's certainly being braver than her mum - getting Sis to have eye drops is a two-person job - one to hold her down and another to administer, and that's as an adult 🤣

    Thanks Cheery.
    Feels a bit de ja vu this morning. Her temp is back down, but the redness has spread further (she's been drawn on again, much to her displeasure!). The only bright spot (fingers crossed) is that she's not had paracetamol since last night, so temp appears to be going down on its own.
    I will pop up later, possibly with pesto pasta for lunch, after supermarket delivery, heat pump audit and, hopefully, quite a bit of work done.

    Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

    In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

    Fingers crossed that the inflammation is just 'coming out' - to stay out, and the body is doing it's work - although the eye swelling must be painful and distressing.  Well done Brave Niece!

    Sorry to hear about your niece. I'm glad you're able to support them (and they don't have to eat hospital food!). Hopefully there will be more improvements soon.
