badmemory said:Tesco - venison - both the grillsteaks & meatballs up from £3 to £3.50, which is16.67%, yet the end of the year they could do them on clubcard for £2.50 so really 40%. Lots of things seem to have gone up by 25p too. I must admit that I don't pay as much attention to the prices of the fresh fruit & veg & I very rarely buy bread products.

Looks like things won't be slowing down any time soon.Shop prices will likely start rising again this year as firms attempt to deal with the extra costs coming down the track as a result of the government’s Budget. According to projections from the British Retail Consortium (BRC) and industry executives, food prices will rise by an average of 4.2 per cent in the second half of 2025. Non-food prices will also start to rise again, the business group said, having been in deflation since April.

But eventually they will just shrug their collective shoulders & say I'm done take my land for solar. Then even more will need importing & will obviously cost even more.1

Yup, good for my health perhaps.I shop mostly at Tescos and the prices have risen steeply, quality down on the ready meals, compared to other supermarkets. Also short on offers at the mo.They have no loose veg here. Everything is in plastic boxes, wrapped in more plastic (so much for getting rid of carrier bags) - so for one I found myself first time ever, veg going off because I can't use it quickly enough. However another store still sells loose veg, also more British and Italian veg at a resonable priceI've found the meat to be very expensive and again, you have to buy the quantity they offer. So I've started some shopping in local butchers where the price is the same or less and the quality excellent.Ditto we have small cafe in a nearby village that sells different cheeses in a quantity you ask for. That's a revelation. It's worth looking around. Supermarkets are no longer the cheapest - but for some a 5min walk to buy local and cheaper is too much. I've tried suggesting - free range eggs half the price of the supermarket and come from just up the road.
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Not directly food related but on TV a pub landlord was saying that to stand still he would need to add 30-40p on a pint from April.

It's even cheaper if I bulk buy and fill the freezer, so that's what I'll be doing this year.
