Package holiday but only taking the return flight ? Allowed?

Hi.
I am on a cruise in February and looking at spending a few extra days in Tenerife after the cruise.
This would mean forfeit my return flight (return flight inc with cruise package) & book a new return flight & a hotel for ** nights
Here the thing - a package deal (inc return flights & hotel) is cheaper than booking it all separately!
My question is - if I was to book this & obviously not be on the first flight to Tenerife ( as I will already be in Tenerife ) but will be on the return flight.
Anyone know if this is allowed ? Or if I do not check in at the beginning of package will it all be cancelled by the company?
Apologies if posted on Incorrect thread
Thanks

The more knowledgeable here will confirm/refute - however I believe a no show on the outward leg of a return package flight cancels the inward leg ?If you are looking at a TUI Marella cruise - they do add on hotel stays within a package deal.May be offered before or after the cruise - I'm not up to speed on specific details. If memory serves the hotel stay can be less than 7 nights - depends on TUI flight cycles from your local airport.2

My understanding is that if a person is a 'no-show' for the outward leg of a return flight, the return leg will be cancelled by the airline. That's done at least in part to prevent what the OP is hoping to do.

Instead of booking a return fligh from the UK you could buy a one way flight from Tenerife to home.

Depends on the airline and if it was booked as a return or 2 singles.
schedule airlines means than more than likely you will lose the return, low cost carriers often only book as single tickets.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages, student & coronavirus Boards, money saving boards. No you can't do that.
If you don't take the first flight, the return is cancelled.

If the OP could give more details of the proposed cruise and stay scenario it would be helpful. If it's TUI, as I assumed, rightly or wrongly, there are possible options without attempting a "pick n' mix" booking.1

Again depends on the airline. EasyJet and Ryanair book it as two singles so there is no problem. BA for example wouldn’t allow it as you have to fly the outbound. You could book a return from Tenerife to U.K. and back then just use the outbound. Or a single fare. Might be a little more expensive but offset by the lack of APD going into the U.K.1

Why book two flights when you could just book Tenerife to UK as a single flight? But first check with your cruise company to see if they can change your return flight1

Apologies if I've missed something. If the OP could advise the cruise line and airline it would help develop this thread IMO.Has the booking already been made through the cruise company with flights included as part of the complete deal ?Or has the cruise and flights been booked separately ?1

thanks for reply
as i explained in my question my cruise includes a return flight - I just will not be boarding the return flight home.
I have rung TUI and advised them I will not be on the return flight and they said that's fine I would just go down as a "no show"
I have now booked a hotel for extra 4 days and a Ryanair flight home which worked out much cheaper than adding both on with Tui0
