@ditty1234 huge relief getting the tax stuff done. I have done my own since my former (and very good) bookkeeper retired. I just do what she didAwful weather today, windy and heavy rainDid a bit outside before the rain came. Repotted a houseplant, sowed some chilli seeds, and pulled up the rest of the beetroot. I found more than I thought were there, and also a good bunch of baby carrots which we had with dinnerwent back inside once it started raining and sorted the fridge. Chopped up and froze some kale which had slipped off the meal plan, and made soup from a few ageing parsnips.Made pastry this afternoon, which became a chicken, leek and bacon pie, a quiche shell and half a dozen lemon curd tartlets for treats with the leftover bits. The pie will be enough for 2 or 3 meals for the two of us. I may have to freeze some.Today has been NSD # 9 I think

Sounds like a great day for all! Congratulations on your news @grandmanerd, happy birthday & @ditty1234 on drawing a line under your tax issues 🎉🎉
NSD#16
Had a lie in, pottered about, then went for a walk. There were some showers, but the wind had dropped, so I wasn't going to let it stop me! Read my book whilst eating a lazy lunch, then unpicked 2 coat zips & put a new zip in one of them. Did the ironing after tea & more pottering.
Grateful for DS1 nearly being home (1.5 hours til the boat from Aberdeen docks), a nice walk, listening to Bob Harris on catch upUse it up, wear it out
Make do or do without!
If you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours 😃

grandmanerd said:Another lovely day, yesterday. DS2 came for me around 3 pm. Spent time with my grand-daughter dressing dolls (to order), pushing prams, being buried under a mountain of soft toys, singing nursery rhymes. She wouldn't let me have an ice cream (wooden one) because I wouldn't sit on one of the little chairs (for fear of breaking it) but she relented later.
I was given presents (consumables, as requested) and then cards, which had surprise presents. The grandma one said from GD and GD No 2 - I looked at my d-o-l. The other card had the scan picture in. GD is looking forward to being a big sister (though she'd rather have a puppy). They asked to know the sex in case they needed to buy different clothes (I wondered if they needed an extra room). DS2 is feeling slightly outnumbered. The new Australian cousin (due any day) is going to be a boy.
I think we're at the six months point. They have kept it quiet because darling d-i-l desperately wants a baby and DS1 is only being persuaded by inches (they're 'trying' but we're not sure if that's actively (now or just a definite plan). D-o-l asked if they'd said anything to me last Sunday - no. She hadn't pursued the matter for fear of upsetting darling d-i-l.
Did jigsaws and played games with GD (memory game then all 4 of us played a shopping list game, they DS2 went to make the main meal whilst d-o-l, GD and I played pop-up Bluey). Lovely food then a cake with candles (only 2). Lots of hugs then GD went for her bath and I was brought home.
Very tired. I tried to post but dozed off several times with the laptop open so gave up.
Grateful for a lovely day with family, good news about a new addition (and another potential one), relaxing (grand clean up will start today and will be done in slow stages), DS3 asking if I wanted anything as he was going to the shop - he brought me chocolate and (not) jelly babies (he had to go to the second shop so I can't complain but the not jelly babies are weird).Isa help to buy: 1000/3000 33%

Still stuck on NSD # 9 as we have just had a load of logs delivered. So a big spend today, and we will need to dodge in and out of the rain to try to get them in the log store. No immediate rush as we chucked them in the garage as soon as they arrived (they were delivered into the garage doorway, with the car out on the road). It would be good to be able to put the car away asap though, as this we live on the edge of a typical small town with vandalism and antisocial behaviour not uncommon. There have been several incidents of vandalism to vehicles recently unfortunately. Hopefully we will be able to put it away before tonight, before any potential idiots get around. We once had a catalytic converter cut off a pick up we used to own, when it was parked in the quiet cul de sac at the bottom of our garden, so it isn't only teens and drunks causing problems.Apart from hauling logs I shan't be doing much, as I am not getting any younger. I have started cleaning upstairs and have only the floors left to do, so hopefully i can get that done.8

Nsd #15 today. I did think I may miss out on a nsd as I need to do a few tasks like apply for a new passport but alas I didn’t get time so I actually save money for another day. Windy and rainy today. We have missed the worst part of the storm. Tomorrow is due to be a very wet day though. Got to work out when I can get out for a run, dodging the rain.Mortgage free wannabee 2022 #827
