If it helps @WannabeFree, I set myself a few ground rules as well as the 'meet it then beat it' low target. That's to not drink Monday to Thursday unless I'm going out for a meal or it's a special occasion like a birthday.
Calling it early in the day helps too as then the decision is made. That took me a while to achieve. When I first joined the thread I posted last thing at night when I was sure I wouldn't have a drink.
Another thing that helps me is that I go out a couple of times a week (in my case to a dance class) and drive myself so won't drink but that may not suit your circumstances. 🤔
Just ideas to think about. 🤗4 -
I saw these festive mocktails in the waitrose paper this week and thought they might be of interest to others on here too. I haven't tried them yet. Does anyone have an opinion on Botivo? I already have a different brand of 0% gin, a lime and redcurrant jelly so will get some cranberry juice and try the first one.

Be careful if folk have health conditions. Bergamot can interfere with statins or diabetes meds and cranberries can affect blood thinners.5 -
Lovely ideas Maman, especially the calling it early one, that's definitely one that works.
I haven't called yet today as I'm undecided, so will declare later
Wanna be free The earl grey and sage looks lush! I much prefer the botanical flavours. All ideas for non alcohol drinks greatly appreciated!
I was in my local supermarket earlier, they've condensed the cordials and non alcohol drinks to a tiny shelf
. The floor is full of boxes of beers etc! What a profit they must be making! 5 -

An unexpected AFD Friday night for me, so 5/21 please cathybird.

Not an AFD yesterday as I had a couple of glasses of wine. I really fancied a drink with a meal but was very reluctant to not have another AF day. I did end up reminding myself that I had never intended to be completely AF but wanted to be in charge of when I drank and not the other way round. So I had two small glasses and that's all. This is a major step forward as the only times I have managed to stop once I've started - actually scrub that sentence, I don't think I've ever actually managed it. So this morning I was faced with a half empty bottle of wine and for the first time in my life I poured it down the sink! My standard excuse for not doing this is that it is a waste of money lol not the case at all because I know full well I would drink the rest of it but that wouldn't be enough and I would buy another bottle.
I know this is only a small step forward and that next time it might not be the case, but I am so grateful for finding this thread and this group of people because without it there would be no small steps at all.
Declaring early today so 5/12 please Cathybird.7 -
4/20 I think. I've been stressed at work. I need to keep proper track or this will become another downward spiral. Dusts self down.Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became
In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!5 -
