This afternoon I decided I must at least make a start in my bedroom unfortunately I had 'help' from the cat 🙄 I also dropped a drawer on my foot trying to put it back on its runners so declutterred some bad words! The drawers in my chest of drawers were tackled and all tidied, not a lot thrown away just a couple of bras and a couple of pairs of socks. The cupboards either side of the drawers are for another day. I also tidied one wardrobe, just a couple of tops added to the CS pile and a four linen shirts will be put under the bed, they are a bit tight across the bust but I don't want to get rid of yet. At least it is tidied, once I go through my second wardrobe and under the bed I'll sort / try on the clothes to keep and those to rehome (the joys of a plus size woman my clothes are like the three bears, too small, too big and just right!) If I'm honest if I get back into the too small will I want to wear them as they are a 'little' out of date and after the menopause I know I'm a different shape, the fat re-positioned itself. It may take a large gin or two to tackle my clothes and be honest with the 'will I really wear them again'
On the way out I sorted the bedside table nearest the door (not the one of my side) 3 items thrown away, not sure why there is new purse in there but that is now downstairs to use, the zip in my current one occasionally opens and spills the change into the bottom of my handbag so has saved me buying a new one 🙂
One of my sisters is coming to stay for a week next Sunday so I'll need to get rid of my bags for charity shop, tip and bookshop although they are in the smallest spare room I want it out of the house now I've made the effort.Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin15 -
- Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks
- Concerted effort to sort out sleep patterns - Realistic targets: bed by 2:00 a.m. & up by 10:00 a.m
- Continue dealing with mail & email on a daily basis
- Don’t put it down, put it away + deal with mini tasks as soon as they are noticed e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
- Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ using the acronym - I.R.I.S. (Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off) - One per quarter
- Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
Sunday continued: Dinner was delicious 🤤 Accompanying the beef we had roast potatoes, parsnips & carrots plus cabbage, cauliflower, Yorkshire puddings & hm gravy. Unusually I have done the washing up straightaway (having wudupa pots, pans etc whilst food was cooking) - I love my warming drawer 😊 & serving dishes are much easier to wash up 😉 Watched the SCD results show especially enjoyed Diversity 🥳 I have done the dupa now. I have just watched the 3rd episode of the knitting show 🤔 I do think that they have missed a trick by not having a 5 minute tutorial each week on learning to knit and crochet.

Happy_Kitties, great news that the kitchen renovation is going so well & that when it is finished you will have empty cupboards 😊 🥳 Well done withe the present wrapping& the Vinted sales 👏
suzeesu2000, that lamb sounds delicious 🤤 (even to me although I am not a great lover of lamb) Great work getting the laundry done 👏 The first time I read This “oh and last night did another family tree session. Found 10 children belonging to a great aunt. Knew about the aunt, didn’t know about the children.” I didn’t register the words ‘family tree session’ & thought you had found 10 children as you were out & about 🙊 Thanks for the weather warning 👏
Excellent decluttering Brambling 👏 Sympathised & empathised with This “I also tidied one wardrobe, ……. At least it is tidied, once I go through my second wardrobe and under the bed I'll sort / try on the clothes to keep and those to rehome (the joys of a plus size woman my clothes are like the three bears, too small, too big and just right!) It may take a large gin or two to tackle my clothes and be honest with the 'will I really wear them again' especially the underlined part 😞 😢
All caught up so will post & head to bed. Sleep tight 😴

3rd episode - look away now if you don't want to see cryptic criticism before you watch it I was a bit confused by who they put out - its a knitting challenge not a design challenge and her second challenge worked, surely one of the ones who didn't work should have gone? (I really didn't think her one should have finished 4th just because the judges didn't care for a granny square- it worked! The one they put 3rd put Tom on the floor)

Woke up this morning and decided that I am going to be a productive human being in all aspects of my life.
Very ADHD of me if I'm being honest but I'm going with it!
Need to head out soon to walk some dogs so no doubt the motivation will have left me by the time I get back but I really hope it doesn't!
You lot are really helping, I don't post much but I do follow along so thank you all.

@daisy_1571 I love the idea of writing down the important things from every year like where you lived / worked / traveled to. Will have to steal this idea for myself as totally forgot I went to South Africa last year when talking to a friend at the weekend 🤣
Many thanks for the flowers and another medal @Mrs_Salad_Dodger - this decluttering lark really has it's benefits sometimes!
Managed to make a start on the room of doom this weekend. Have put things in suitcases ready for when I next need them e.g. all the things I'd take on a short haul holiday are in the small case, all the things for a long haul in the bigger case so I'm actually using them as storage rather than wasting the space. Also spent most of Saturday out shopping as getting some picture frames turned into picking up some new bedding and curtains for the kitchen / diner. Decluttered a lot of money but think it was worth it and its all accounted for from the house pot. Need to hem said curtains and the ones in the living room so might try and get that done one night this week if I have time, otherwise it will be a weekend job.

OH is decluttering some ££ to get his monster car sorted. Apparently there are 2 AA batteries in the alarm system that have just about expired after 10 years. Should be simple, replace 2 batteries at a cost of a couple of £. But no. The alarm is buried somewhere and replacing the batteries is no cheaper than replacing the whole alarm system. So let's call that £300+ decluttered. This is after the dealership needed £150 to tell him the reason for the warning light was that 2 batteries needed to be replaced. At least he's been sensible and gone to a independent garage who are doing the required work for £100 less than the dealership.
And since his car isn't on the drive, mine is out from the carport enjoying the unexpected sunshine which means that we were able to declutter the carport of the accumulation of leaves. 2 bins almost completely full. There are more leaves to be swept up (at least another bin worth) but they will have to wait until after Friday when the council do our bins. This wouldn't have been an issue if my gardener hadn't disappeared - she was good when she managed to make it here and would take everything thing away with her for composting.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. I am still decluttering but not at home! I sold a very large hamper basket and a sewing machine at craft group today. Money towards the group for more craft materials. I also got rid of some bits last week too. Christmas Fayre is next week when I hope that we will sell a lot of the stuff we have made. Brrr it’s a chilly one. Been such a beautiful blue sky and sunny but, when the sun went down so did the temperature. Love it.
Dinner was pork loin steaks from freezer and veg leftover from yesterday.Decluttered all the ironing and have rediscovered my fondness for it. I know, I’m mad. I was ironing a pale blue blouse top of mine and really enjoying as the creases gave way to a smooth crisp finish. Anyway, all laundry done, dried, ironed and put away.
2 boxes of books collected as well - nice to see them go.
The raised bed will absolutely 100% be empty by this weekend. Then DH can start swearing as he dismantles them.Have a good night all, sleep tight xxSaving 1 animal wont change the world - but it will change the world for that 1 animal

More papers gone off the reading pile.
Put a few things away in bedroom and found one item for CS. Made a start on the filing pile and decided not to keep some of it, so more papers out.13 -
I had to defrost the windscreen when I went out at 6pm, glad I'm not going into work anymore as I think it will be cold first thing.
I had a quick tidy of the big cupboard (above the stairs) in the small bedroom, it didn't need much doing but I wanted to remove some fabric and add to the CS pile, one of the shops in town will take crafting stuff/fabric etc. There's enough to fill a large bag some leftover fabric from making curtains. Whilst I was on the steps I blew the lamp shade, I'm embarrassed to way there was enough dust to set me wheezing all afternoon
I don't use the room much other than storage (planned crafting room in retirement ) I inherited the lampshade when I moved in 20 years ago looking at it up close with no dust I think it's a 70s design on it so I fear it will fall apart when I take it down, time to decorate and replace it and the curtains me thinks. Then I tackled the two cupboards which are part of my chest of drawers in my bedroom I did the drawers yesterday. Five items of clothing added to the CS pile. I won't need to buy pyjamas for a long long while and I have an embarrassment of tee shirts (that sounds an appropriate collective noun!) 🫣 to be culled at a later date. A never used gifted handbag was also added to the CS pile. My CS pile will feel the car boot.Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage - Anais Nin12
