Looked at the tshirt I was wearing yesterday and realised I'd be embarassed to be seen in it by anyone even if they realised I'd been painting the shed or slaving away weeding or cleaning. It has holes thanks to our ex cat Ariadne's claws (holes are always on the left shoulder!) and has worn badly and stretched. I think it cost me about $5 (so £3?) over 5 years back and has been worn a lot. So in the bin as no right minded charity shop would want it.
Am packing up a suitcase with various bits of clothing I don't like. Plus a chocolate tin that has been used to accumulate odd bits like light pull cords. I don't know if the bits are sellable but I need to continue on the clearing so that the front room is useable. OH wasn't well yesterday and had decided to sleep in there (bed was made 18 months back and has never been used) but by the time he'd tidied up a bit he decided he might as well come to bed upstairs where there's a nice breeze. Anyhoo, once packed the suitcase can go in my car to be dropped off at whatever charity shop I'm passing - likely the local animal charity near the Tescos. It's easy enough to park close by and the women that work there are very friendly. I just need to make sure I avert my eyes from the goods for sale - I didn't on one trip and spotted a very underpriced selection of Poole pottery that match the pattern we have of some plates.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. Grannykate, I had to laugh at Sox's guilty face as you caught him in the act of climbing the fence
Your garden is a credit to your hard work.
I have been decluttering more things little by little and will have a couple of bags for the CS tomorrow and a carload for the tip (including a rotten garden bench) on Friday. Today's job has been to finish sorting DH's cross-stitch kits which he hadn't looked at for at least 15 years. When he was a railway signalman and on nights he had to stay awake even in the long gaps between trains, so he took up stitching, but he had the unfortunate tendency to start something and then buy another kit and concentrate on that instead until something even better came along. With his permission, I will complete anything that is not far off being finished and either frame it or make it into a greetings card, which can be sold at the church Christmas Fayre. Other kits will end up at the CS or at our new Knit Knot & Natter group. It has taken me 2 days to untangle and sort the unused threads!11 -
- Write a daily To Do list - only 3 tasks
- Concerted effort to sort out sleep patterns - Realistic targets: bed by 2:00 a.m. & up by 10:00 a.m
- Continue dealing with mail & email on a daily basis
- Don’t put it down, put it away + deal with mini tasks as soon as they are noticed e.g. refill olive oil pourer or salt cellar, stitch up a hole in a garment etc
- Commence ‘Operation Frog Tickling’ using the acronym - I.R.I.S. (Identify, Research, Implement, Sign Off) - One per quarter
- Continue to keep kitchen clean & tidy - before going to bed
Tuesday: after the short showers overnight & early a.m. it is now a bright, sunny & hot day 🥵 although very occasionally there is a delight cooling breeze ☺️ Forecast high 31°C, low 19°C & humidity 45% DH headed off at 10:00 for WLP & is then heading off to the dentist to get a quick OK since his extractions. I have my first cuppa which I will sit & enjoy whilst completing a couple of Sudoku puzzles to wake myself up properly before starting the cheerleading. P.S. I never did get around to visiting the CS last week 😔 DH has just phoned - another 0.5lbs so has dipped down into a lower stones category 🥳 Time to catch up with the cheerleading starting from yesterday afternoon:
London_1, excellent work getting your laundry done so quickly & congratulations on getting the towel repaired & yippee to a good crop of tomatoes 👏 A medal 🏅is on its way. Happy Anniversary to both your DDs 🥂
vulpix, re This “We are blessed that 4 of the 5 kids would help with anything even though they all live nowhere near us. As for the other one 😈 hahahaha” an 80% success rate 🥳 Loved This “Step son came,he saw ,he conquered.” & thought I would google a translation ‘venit, vidit, vicit’ 😅 although I am very disappointed that I had forgotten my Latin grammar rules ☹️ As to This “I have some very shocking news. The box of rocks has gone! For those who don't know my Mum has been asking my brother to move the wooden trunk of rocks for about 40 years. I am in shock. All the stuff for the tip, in the back garden hasn't gone.” 🥳 Party time 🎉 Wow, I am very impressed that you did hand sewing on the neoprene skirt - talk about hard work 😓 no wonder you are looking forward to craft club for a rest 🙊
Excellent work Liverpool_Anne 👏 Fingers crossed that you find lots more loose change when you tackle OH’s couch next week 🤞😉 How annoying that a simple task for ‘supposed’ professionals was botched 😠 Hopefully DH will get compensation for a day’s lost work 🤞So lovely to hear when siblings get on so well 🥹 as not always the case 😢 Here’s hoping that you can fit in a visit before Christmas 🙏
I am really struggling to get going with the cheerleading - brain is feeling poached 😞 so will post this & come back later 🤞Hope everyone is having a good day 😊

Thanks for the garden comments. It's too hot to do anything out there this afternoon. I managed to pack a suitcase for tomorrow, get a shower and washed my hair. I forgot one of the garden pictures which shows what is in the corner under the stones. Four inch thick reinforced concrete slabs all uneven. Gardener took one piece out which was in way of fence and that took about 3 hours so I decided the rest had to stay and be covered up. Note Sox bottom left and a visitor on the right - deep grumbling sounds could be heard. Joiner is going to replace door and windows in potting shed. Children have a suggested a bar in there!

I just popped up to say we're in the new house. Unfortunately the van broke down (only 10 mins away) so we spent most of the day waiting. The lads unloaded their trailer into another van and brought that, but not the first van so we've an eclectic selection of things which were packed last! e.g. 2 out of 3 mattresses, a dining table without chairs, no fridge ...
It should all be here tomorrow whether they have to unload the first van into another, or have fixed the van (fingers crossed). Horribly hot weather for them to suffer this.
Meanwhile the internet, EV charger, boiler and cooker work, once I'd found the correct on switchesDecluttering awards 2025: 🏅🏅🏅⭐️ ⭐️⭐️, DH: 🏅⭐️ and one for Mum: 🏅13 -
DD decluttered my bank card accidently down a slit on Llandudno pier. She then left a bottle in the boot without telling me. I opened it and £16 full bottle of gin smashed. I had to borrow the money off my dad to buy it in the first place because my card had been lost at sea at this point!
Oh well, at least I can't spend for the next week.September 2017 Debt = £25330
Starting afresh.
