I spoke to Dudley yesterday and they had been having technical problems with their website since Friday.

It could be that they have temporarily stopped online applications until the issues have been resolved which the person I spoke to didn't think would happen until Monday.

When I tried just before noon, I did so also by logging in and clicking 'Apply', and the account was not listed in the permissible accounts whereas many others were. But hoping this is linked to a technical issue rather than withdrawal. Let's see what Monday brings.

Yes you can. Ignore the bit about the 25th.

IIRC, the 25th is just stated as the latest date in the month Halifax recommend you make a payment to ensure it's credited before the end of that month. I'm not sure what delays they're accounting for, though. In reality, I find that payments into Halifax accounts are credited instantly.

February. If 25th was a Friday and FPs are only guaranteed at the end of the next working day, which would be the 28th.

It makes a bit more sense now that banks are given longer to process FPs (or soon will be) but Halifax have had these terms for years.

Worst case scenario, if you paid on the evening of Friday, 25th February it only just about makes it for Monday, 28th February, being the last day of that month.

My recent experience is that if you opened it today then you will have several gentle reminders to fund it by text and e-mail tomorrow. No evidence that there is a time limit.
Bear in mind the 1st January is a bank holiday.

Even if the payment is credited instantly, if the payment is made after the last working day of the month then Halifax and Lloyds (and I guess BoS) will treat the payment as having been made on the next working day, and it will count as the following month's payment.

E.g. Payments made on 30/11/2025 were treated as deposits made on 01/12/2025 and no further deposits allowed in December.
