ID posted to Scottish BS doesn’t need to be certified. I just sent them a photocopy of the front of my driving licence and nothing else and the cheque cleared today. There’s nothing on it that isn’t on the application form other than the passport number/licence number (and the categories the licence covers, no details as they are on the back which doesn’t need to be sent.)janusd said:Bridlington1 said:
And now there's the scramble to try to get an account opened by post and initial deposit received before the end of the month. I suspect this is is going to be rather tight.Bob2000 said:SCOTTISH BUILDING SOCIETY ONLINE REGULAR SAVER.
I spoke earlier today to a member of staff over the phone (11.46am) and asked them if they're launching the online version of their postal/branch Regular Saver.
I was told there are no plans at the moment to do so.
For those who were holding out for the online version to be launched please accept my apologies for the misinformation. It seems my sources are growing unreliable of late.no apologies needed - I am one of those ones holding out for the online version, but if it doesn't arrive, then it's no big deal... I could live with posting a paper form (posted one to Cambridge BS at the weekend), but i'm not messing around with getting ID posted.in any event, I assumed the online version wouldn't launch until any potential backlog of dealing with the postal version had been resolved... and if people are still applying for the postal version...

You can pay into Hanley without a login ID, using the A/c application number. I was told over the phone I could do it, did so the day I opened the a/c, and phoned them up next day to confirm they'd received it. I'm still waiting for login stuff to arrive in the post, but no biggie, the second payment will go in in November.0

They are not being very joyful with that rate and maximum monthly deposit limit.Bridlington1 said:HRBS Christmas RS to be launched 1/11/25
The details I've been given:
5% (var)
£100/Mth max
Can skip months
30 notice on withdrawals which are unlimited
Branch/post opening but can be viewed online once opened.
They have said they'll send an application pack to me when it's launched
I will be giving it a miss.
Probably still worth opening this for membership (new or continuing). It will likely mature into their 30 day RS follow-on account which can be drawn down to £1.
They have been known to offer members bonds in the past.1 -
I've already got the 30 day RS follow-on account with a small balance, following maturity in early 2025 of a two year 30 day notice RS. I'm ready for any Hinckley and Rugby not-to-be-missed loyalty accounts but no sign of themhappybagger said:

Yes, probably a good idea. Its one I'm not a member of, and I do have form for opening accounts with organisations I'm not a member of just to obtain membership!happybagger said:

Maybe helpful, but if you have Santander Edge current account, CHAPS payment charges are waived.flaneurs_lobster said:
A CHAPS payment will cost you £20-£30 (depending on your bank) so probably not that.francoghezzi said:Hanley RS
Just received my welcome pack with my account number. Still not able to go on line (Id will be sent by post). What is the best method to pay into the account before the end of the month so as to be able to pay again next week? Call them and use my debit card? It's the first time I have a choice between BACS and CHAPS payment. What did you go for?1 -
HRBSCalled earlier for application forms and envelope. Will be posted to me before launch of XmasRS Told application forms are generic, plus I can get details, terms conditions, etc of accounts from website when available. Online access is setup purely online. It may be possible to do transactions with accounts through online access; so not solely for viewing. Understand that they will try using some electronic verification initially, so if ok, no need to send id etc in.Overall, good first impression.0

Didn't know that, very useful information. Thanks for highlighting.Born2Save_3 said:

I totally agree that Bridlington1 is one of the stars on this forum, and if he makes a mistake with information that he's only passing on from source hes not to blame.
I opened an ONLINE SAVER with the intention of being able later to open the RS online version and phoned them about my money taking its time to show online.

He hasn't made a mistake. He passed on information which he was given by what can be considered is a reliable source. This information may or may not have been incorrect - all we know for certain is that a potentially different person from the same source has now given different information. If this latest information is correct, this doesn't mean that the earlier information given to Bridlington1 was incorrect - it is quite conceivable that it was the intention of SBS at the time to release an online RS version but they may since have changed their mind. Equally it is conceivable that one of the forumites has been given incorrect information but that's hardly their fault.
The bottom line is that nobody on this forum should be blamed, or accused of a mistake, for passing on information they have been given by employees of providers and which subsequently turns out to be incorrect.
