Just received my welcome pack with my account number. Still not able to go on line (Id will be sent by post). What is the best method to pay into the account before the end of the month so as to be able to pay again next week? Call them and use my debit card? It's the first time I have a choice between BACS and CHAPS payment. What did you go for?
A CHAPS payment will cost you £20-£30 (depending on your bank) so probably not that.
That's why I was surprised to find it between the options available

It'll be there for when people are shunting the funds from/for property sales (it is a BS after all).

Got that, just surprised to find it between the options for payments related to a Regular Saver although I imagine it's just a matter of copy and paste, as usual. Not having access on line for some reason it's probably worth calling and go for a debit card payment while I wait for my Id in the post

HRBS Christmas RS to be launched 1/11/25

    The details I've been given:
    5% (var)
    £100/Mth max
    Can skip months
30 notice on withdrawals which are unlimited
Branch/post opening but can be viewed online once opened.

They have said they'll send an application pack to me when it's launched
They are not being very joyful with that rate and maximum monthly deposit limit.

I will be giving it a miss.
I didn't look past the rate, so didn't realise it was only £100pm!
I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?

Free with Barclays although once setup there's a £20 fee to cancel one

That's the kind of information that will be very useful at some point in the future, hope I remember it.

SCOTTISH BUILDING SOCIETY  ONLINE REGULAR SAVER.

I spoke earlier today to a member of staff over the phone (11.46am) and asked them if they're launching the online version of their postal/branch Regular Saver.
I was told there are no plans at the moment to do so.
And now there's the scramble to try to get an account opened by post and initial deposit received before the end of the month. I suspect this is is going to be rather tight.

For those who were holding out for the online version to be launched please accept my apologies for the misinformation. It seems my sources are growing unreliable of late.
no apologies needed - I am one of those ones holding out for the online version, but if it doesn't arrive, then it's no big deal... I could live with posting a paper form (posted one to Cambridge BS at the weekend), but i'm not messing around with getting ID posted.

in any event, I assumed the online version wouldn't launch until any potential backlog of dealing with the postal version had been resolved... and if people are still applying for the postal version...

both my welcome pack and userid arrived yesterday, paid £300 by BACS and is showing in the account (dated today) - by now, your account should pass CoP, so you could pay by BACS today (or by Thursday at worst) and it will be added the next working day - by the time your userid arrives (later this week I would guess), the first deposit should be sitting in the account, reading for you to send the next deposit at the weekend / Monday.

Re: HRBS a/c due 1st Nov
Probably still worth opening this for membership (new or continuing). It will likely mature into their 30 day RS follow-on account which can be drawn down to £1.
They have been known to offer members bonds in the past.
