My RS matures on 25th, no issues if i request to close early? Was going to request closure on 23rd and should receive on 25th.
Also, for some infinite wisdom known only to Newcastle BS, my entire online account was shut down when I closed the RS, so I am unable to log in at all using my old USER ID, etc (I didn't have any other accounts with them, but other banks, BSs, have always kept my online access so I can, for instance, check previous transactions, etc).
I don't know if this will be the same for you, but if it helps in any way...0 -
YBS Christmas Regular eSaver will mature on 31 Oct25. Received a revised email from YBS, they are mistaken it will now mature on 1 Nov 25, thats saturday.
Will the credit of the maturity proceeds happen on saturday 1 Nov or monday 3 Nov?

Yes, I think that's the key: to try to keep at least one account open for future ease/savings/exclusives...AndyTh_2 said:
I've another savings account with them to keep the user account warm (also why I closed rather than let this account become another low rate interest account to be the warm one).PowerSavingMode said:

I closed mine early a few weeks ago, but it has caused no end of trouble. The funds were sent with interest all well and promptly, BUT I have not been able to open a new savings account since, despite going through all the relevant ID steps successfully. My emails have been falling on deaf ears.

Generally I keep at least one account open for banks/bs and if I don't I let the regular saver become it0 -

I closed a Newcastle RS some months ago. This was my only account with them, and my online account was also shut down. Opened their Monument RS last week, just had to register for a new online account.PowerSavingMode said:

Nope, tried that, too. Seems they want none of my money after closing that one account, whether it be their 'regular' regular saver or their Monument RS. Ah well... other regular savers with other banks/BSs are available!

Found out the hard way for Aldermore. Closed their Reg Saver last year, when I needed the money. Came back a couple of months later to open a new Reg Saver, I had to go through entire registration process again.
Same with Principality BS, if you do not have an active account with them, Online logins dont work. Open a new account & re-register yourself.1 -
That's interesting. But even after going through the entire registration again, and 'successfully' passing the ID upload palaver, I still haven't heard back — three weeks and counting, despite me emailing them to enquire as to what's going on.ChewyyBacca said:

It's a good practice. With some BSs it can take a while to open as a new customer, with others is relatively quick and easy, but it is easier if you are a member and already have online access. I have an extra account with each BS I'm using and even with some that I've never used properly. It also helps eligibility for loyalty/members accounts. The only exception is when the BS doesn't offer any suitable accounts, this happened with Hanley and Leeds. Leeds assured me that after closure I will retain my profile and online access and Leeds doesn't have any history of offering competitive Loyalty accounts.Aidanmc said:
Yes, i realise some of these banks close down online access if you have no other accounts.PowerSavingMode said:

I'm not actually planning to open another Newcastle RS for the time being, i will need to withdraw from some of my 5.5% RS's for November RS funding.
But i might open a Easy access and stick £1 in it to keep my online access.2 -
Wonder if this is an ID issue? Newcastle verified my ID electronically.PowerSavingMode said:

Open a new account & re-register yourself.I initially thought the same (even though I'd already passed the ID check the first time round in 2024 when I had originally applied for an account then)... but after the ID upload as per their instructions I was told "We will review and verify your documentation and will confirm within 5 days if your account has been opened or if we require further information from you." — that was just a tad more than three weeks ago; quite a bit longer than '5 days'. I honestly have no idea what's going on. And I'm really not impressed with their customer service at all (like I said, I have emailed the given customer service email many times now and apart from the auto-receipt email, I have not gotten any further with them).2 -
Scottish BS
I had nearly forgotten that I sent my application (using Freepost) on October 9. Today, my opening deposit cheque got cashed so it can’t be long until I get my passbook etc in the snail mail. Hoping it will all be much faster from here ….. 🤞1
