My RS matures on 25th, no issues if i request to close early? Was going to request closure on 23rd and should receive on 25th.
no issue, mine also was going to on 25th but I closed it a few days ago and opened a new one
Did the money arrive to your bank account on the same day?
    Newcastle Regular Saver

yes, I can't remember what time though I closed it to get it the same day though, just its the same day during week day

and I opened and funded the next regular saver the same day
Thank you!  I was going to close mine on 24th to avoid the low rate at weekend, but wasn't sure it the funds will arrive on the same day.  I know that withdrawals made at weekend don't arrive until next working day.

I expect this applies to account closures too.

    Re Principality rejected maturity options

Just wondering what happens after you get the rejection message - do you get the option to choose a different maturity account instead? Or do they just transfer everything to your nominated external account?

not online via the original choice method - either give them a call (you might get someone that allows you to have your original maturity option), or send them updated maturity options via secure message... if you do nothing, depending on the account maturing, the balance may be move to an instant access account with PBS.

    Newcastle BS

I closed mine early a few weeks ago, but it has caused no end of trouble. The funds were sent with interest all well and promptly, BUT I have not been able to open a new savings account since, despite going through all the relevant ID steps successfully. My emails have been falling on deaf ears.

Also, for some infinite wisdom known only to Newcastle BS, my entire online account was shut down when I closed the RS, so I am unable to log in at all using my old USER ID, etc  (I didn't have any other accounts with them, but other banks, BSs, have always kept my online access so I can, for instance, check previous transactions, etc).

I don't know if this will be the same for you, but if it helps in any way...

I've another savings account with them to keep the user account warm (also why I closed rather than let this account become another low rate interest account to be the warm one).

Generally I keep at least one account open for banks/bs and if I don't I let the regular saver become it

In my case I never had that problem but in general when refreshing regular savers I prefer to make sure I have another savings account with the bank/building society in question so that I don't end up losing access to online banking.

In my case I still have their EA tracker account from a while back with £1 in it so I've never lost access to online banking whilst refreshing my account.

I closed a Newcastle RS some months ago. This was my only account with them, and my online account was also shut down. Opened their Monument RS last week, just had to register for a new online account.

Me too. There's an Easy Saver that can be opened with a quid.

Yes, i realise some of these banks close down online access if you have no other accounts.
I'm not actually planning to open another Newcastle RS for the time being, i will need to withdraw from some of my 5.5% RS's for November RS funding.
But i might open a Easy access and stick £1 in it to keep my online access.
